Outright Premier League betting tips

Betting w/o Manchester City – Liverpool
Tottenham to finish outside of the Top 6
Wolves to be relegated
Arsenal to win the league, Man Utd Top 4 finish & Bournemouth relegated

The wait is over and the greatest league in the world is finally back on Friday evening. The Man City treble winner Riyad Mahrez will be in action as Al-Ahli host Al-Hazm in the Saudi Pro league – but unlike Riyad, Jordan Henderson and countless others, I couldn’t be bought. Instead I’ll be be giving my best ante-post bets for The English Premier League season!

Betting w/o Manchester City – Liverpool.

You’d think Arsenal may be the most likely to challenge Man City again this season but at the prices, I can’t ignore Liverpool to finish second to City. Liverpool lost only one of their home games at Anfield last season (to Leeds) but it was their away form that was their Achilles heel, winning just six of their 19 away games last season.

Three of those wins did come in their last five away games, while drawing the other two and scoring 15 goals in the process. So there were signs towards the end that their away form was turning. Summer signings Alexis McAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai could breed new life into their midfield and bring out the best of their front line. A better season is expected from both Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz to supplement star man Mo Salah.

Tottenham to finish outside of the Top 6.

Last season was one to forget for Tottenham with their lowest league finish since 2009. They’ve brought in new manager Ange Postecoglou and their marquee signing of James Maddison will bolster a midfield that was very poor last year. However, there still are too many uncertainties around Spurs right now to have any confidence in them challenging for a Top 4 finish and even breaking back into the Top 6.

Harry Kane’s future is still unresolved – if he goes this price will look big. There are just too many teams around them right now in much better shape with the likes of Aston Villa and Brighton looking to challenge for Top 6 again. I don’t see any upsides to being onside with the North Londoners.

Football Tips

Wolves to be relegated.

It was a toss up between Wolves and Everton when I went to check the relegation market. They were both the same price so I’ve gone with Wolves as they were lowest scorers in the division last year and have lost their captain Ruben Neves. Nathan Collins moved to Brentford and both will be hugely missed at Molineux.

They haven’t been replaced yet with Wolves’ signings so far being Matt Doherty coming back on a free transfer from Atletico Madrid, alongside £44m Atletico Madrid striker Matheus Cunha who scored just two goals on loan at Wolves last season. I expect Wolves’ slide to continue and for them to be in a real fight for survival at the end of the season.

Arsenal to win the league, Man Utd Top 4 finish & Bournemouth relegated.

I couldn’t leave the article go without a long shot fancy from our #WhatOddsPaddy specials! How about this one – Arsenal to win the league, Man Utd Top 4 finish & Bournemouth relegated at 25/1! Hear me out.. It’s not beyond the realms of possibility that Man City have a slow start to the season after last season’s treble-winning highs.

It’s very hard to keep those standards across consecutive seasons and they may be caught napping by Arsenal who are the most likely placed again to challenge. The Gunners’ young team can build on last season’s runners-up exertions and improve with the brilliant addition to their midfield of Declan Rice. Man Utd are getting on the right track under Erik Ten Haag and if they add a few more goals, should be a shoe in for the Top 4 again.

At the other end of the table, Bournemouth could easily go down after losing last season’s star player in Jefferson Lerma to Crystal Palace. Having brought in a couple of players with no Premier League experience, they are relegation candidates this season.
