We’ve got some tasty European action to get stuck into on Sunday evening and we’re in Italy first for Bari v Cagliari in the Serie B playoffs.
The scoreline is level at 1-1 after the first leg and the winner on Sunday will book their place in Serie A for next season.
Bari finished third in Serie B this season, two places and five points above Cagliari, and they’ve got a solid home record this season (won seven, drawn nine, lost three).
We’re expecting the home advantage to pay off for Bari so we’re backing them to win against a Cagliari side who won just four of their 19 away Serie B games this season.
Over 2.5 Goals
We’re also on the hunt for goals on Sunday night and we’re siding with Over 2.5 Goals.
While there’s a lot on the line and it could be a cagey affair, at some point either team will need to attack and take risks.
Bari scored an impressive 58 times in their 38 games this season, which was only bettered by Serie B champions Frosinone.
Cagliari, meanwhile, netted 50 times in the same amount of games and there has been three or more goals in four of their last six outings.
We’re staying in Italy but we’re now looking at the Serie A relegation playoff match as Spezia host Verona.
It’s 17th facing off against 18th on Sunday evening as both sides fight to keep their place in Serie A.
Both Spezia and Verona are out of form (as you’d have guessed with them playing in a relegation playoff) so we’re expecting a tight game given what’s on the line.
Under 2.5 Goals makes sense given the magnitude of the game and the numbers back it up. Both Spezia and Verona’s Serie A games have averaged 2.4 goals this season and there has been three or more goals in just four of their last ten games combined.
Finally, we’re in Spain for the first leg of the Segunda Division playoff final between Alaves and Levante.
It’s fourth hosting third on Sunday night, with Alaves winning their playoff semi-final 3-1 on aggregate over two legs, with Levante dominating 6-1 in their showdown.
We know there’s plenty on the line but it’s hard to see Both Teams to Score not landing considering Alaves and Levante scored 47 and 46 goals respectively in their La Liga 2 games this season.
BTTS has landed in four of Alaves’ last six games – including their playoff semi-final – while Levante have seen both teams net in three of their last four. We’re hoping that trend continues on Sunday.
