After a busy midweek schedule we’re back with another packed weekend of Premier League football and it all kicks off with Crystal Palace v West Ham on Saturday.
There’s loads of games on Sunday but it’s Fulham v Manchester City and Liverpool v Tottenham on the telly. We’ve also got Leicester v Everton on Monday Night Football and a bonus Arsenal v Chelsea clash on Tuesday evening.
So, with the weekend hurling towards us once again there’s no time to waste and it’s only right that we bring in our resident tipster and Premier League predicting guru, Mark Lawrenson. He’s in blistering form so sit up and take note, here’s Lawro’s predictions this weekend.
West Ham were unlucky not to get a penalty against Liverpool on Wednesday. Crystal Palace lost to Wolves. I’m going to go for a draw. Wolves are slowly climbing away from the drop zone and West Ham have had a decent run. Crystal Palace 1-1 West Ham.
It was excellent wins for both during the week, although Chelsea are all over the place. That was the first time Nottingham Forest had won for a long time thanks to their second-half performance against Brighton. I just think Brentford are such a strong team and they’re hard to cope with at home. Brentford 2-1 Nottingham Forest.
I predicted Brighton to lose to Forest and they did. I think, always, off the back of an FA Cup semi final and things like that, it’s not just the efforts it’s the mental side of it as well. It does affect you. Wolves are going okay, they don’t look like they’re going to get sucked in to the relegation battle. Brighton 1-1 Wolves.
I watched Leeds in midweek and they’re still completely scatty. I’ll go for Leeds to win this. They should have won the other night, Patrick Bamford should have scored and it would have been deserved. Bournemouth 1-2 Leeds.
Fulham will give Manchester City a good game. The thing about playing at Craven Cottage is that you do feel hemmed in but, the way that Man City are at the moment, they’re just outstanding. Fulham 0-2 Manchester City.
I’ll go for Newcastle, they’ve got the bit between their teeth. They had a little set back and they’re back on it again. They will just keep pushing until the end of the season and the goals are coming from all over the place at the moment. That Tottenham result was outstanding. Newcastle 2-0 Southampton.
Liverpool, at the moment, have won three on the bounce, even though they’re conceding goals which is slightly worrying. I’m going to go for a fourth consecutive win. Liverpool 2-0 Tottenham.
I thought Leicester were really clever the other night against Leeds in how they used Jamie Vardy. They brought him in with about 20 minutes left when Leeds were tiring because of their enormous work rate. To be quite honest with you, Leicester could have won that quite comfortably and they were the better team. Everton are difficult to beat but just don’t look like scoring. Leicester 2-1 Everton.
Chelsea are a shambles. I know everyone’s saying that they’ve lost every game under Frank Lampard but this goes back ages. I’ll go for Arsenal to win and I’m sure there’ll be a bounce back after that loss to City. But, Chelsea, their season’s basically become woeful. There just doesn’t seem to be a plan. Arsenal 2-0 Chelsea.
