TIPMAN’S FOULS SPECIAL

  • Ben Godfrey to commit 1 or more fouls
  • Dwight McNeil to commit 1 or more fouls

Man United v Everton

Saturday, April 8, 12:30pm

Lisandro Martinez to commit 1 or more fouls

Lisandro Martinez looks set to retain his place at the back for Manchester United alongside Varane. The partnership is really starting to work and that is evident with their 3 clean sheets in their previous 5 outings and they will be hopeful of keeping another here against a relegation threatened Everton. Martinez is a very physical defender and doesn’t allow forwards any time to turn or receive the ball into feet. Martinez has averaged 0.93 fouls per game in the Premier League so far this season. Everton come here in good confidence and unbeaten in 4, and this game will not be a given for United. We expect 1+ foul from the very physical Argentine.

Ben Godfrey to commit 1 or more fouls

Ben Godfrey has had a very difficult season with many injuries and struggling to regain fitness and consistency. Godfrey has however played all 90 minutes in all 4 of Everton’s recent unbeaten run under Dyche and Everton have now climbed out of the relegation zone on goal difference. Godfrey is a very physical full back and has averaged 1.2 fouls per game in his limited minutes so far this season, and is fouled 0.75 times per game on average. Godfrey is likely to be up against the very tricky Anthony on the right hand side for United who is fouled a massive 2.5 times per game. At 8/13 we see Godfrey foul as a single great value here.

Dwight McNeil to commit 1 or more fouls

Dwight McNeil looks set to start again on the wide left for Everton here. McNeil will likely to be up against Diogo Dalot for United who commits 1 foul per game and is not scared of a challenge and no stranger to a yellow card. Mcneil has picked up 3 bookings in his previous 7 games himself, and averages 0.75 fouls per game. It could be an interesting battle on that side of the pitch between the 2 players and we see Mcneil committing at least 1 foul and also presents decent value at 8/13. This is a massive game for Everton and they will be keen to stop United passing out from the back and to press in packs.

The Man in the Middle – Michael Oliver

The referee for this huge Premier League clash is Michael Oliver. Michael Oliver awards an above League average of 23.91 fouls per game and we are tipping just 3 here, with 3 players likely to be heavily involved. Oliver produces an average of 3.6 cards per game but these sides average 4.72 cards per game, significantly above the league average of 3.82. There is plenty to play for here with Champions League places and Premier League survival at stake. We predict a cagey affair with plenty of fouls and cards.
