Aston Villa vs Nottingham Forest

Over 4.5 cards

Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest are two teams going in completely different directions.

Villa have been sensational under Unai Emery and now have a realistic opportunity of finishing in the European places at the end of the season after taking 16 points from their last available 18.

Forest, on the other hand, have taken two points from their last available 21 and are guaranteed to find themselves in the bottom three if they fall to another defeat.

Not only has Forest’s form been disappointing in recent months, but their discipline has also left a lot to be desired.

Steve Cooper’s side have collected 12 yellow cards in their last three games at a rate of four per game, while they have collected 17 cards in that seven-game run.

Villa, meanwhile, 56 yellow cards and one red card in 29 league games this season at a rate of almost exactly two cards per game.

Four of Forest’s last five games have seen five cards or more and it wouldn’t be surprising to see that become five games out of six.

Tottenham V Brighton

Kaoru Mitoma to score or assist

Tottenham plumbed new depths during their draw against Everton on Monday night, conspiring to make a 10-man Everton side look like prime Barcelona in the last 20 minutes.

It is hard to remember a side managing a game worse when playing with a man and goal advantage for the last half an hour against a side facing relegation.

That draw has seriously damaged Tottenham’s Champions League prospects and they could be further damaged against an excellent Brighton side that has every chance of finishing above Tottenham in the league this season.

Brighton were excellent in their 2-0 win at Bournemouth mid-week and can make a statement at Tottenham. Central to their excellent form has been the form of Kaoru Mitoma, who was scored or assisted in each of his last seven games in all competitions.

Mitoma has been one of the standout players in an exceptional Brighton team and will fancy his chances against a Spurs defence that has conceded 41 goals this season, the most of any team in the top 12.

Kaoru Mitoma Brighton

Wolves v Chelsea

Under 2.5 goals

Frank Lampard’s first game back in charge at Chelsea sees a clash between two of the lowest-scoring sides in the Premier League.

Chelsea, whose struggles in front of goals were laid bare in the 0-0 draw with Liverpool on Tuesday night, have scored just 29 goals in 29 games this season and are just six goals away from having the worst goalscoring record in the division.

Wolves, on the other hand, do boast the worst record in the division along with Everton and Southampton, scoring just 23 times. Chelsea have scored two goals or more in just two of their last 21 outings in the league, drawing a blank on 10 separate occasions in that 21-game spell.

Wolves, meanwhile, have scored two goals or more in just five different games all season and have drawn a blank 11 times in 29 games. All signs point to a low-scoring affair.

Brentford v Newcastle

Both teams to score

Brentford suffered their first league defeat in 18 games after losing to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday and now take on high-flying Newcastle fresh from their 5-1 win at West Ham.

Newcastle boast the best defensive record in the division, conceding 20 goals in 28 games. However, they have kept just one clean sheet in their last seven league games and have not kept a clean sheet in their last four away games.

Brentford, meanwhile, have scored in every home game since a 0-0 draw with Chelsea in October and will cause plenty of problems for Newcastle.

They are also without an away clean sheet since January, pointing towards goals at both ends when the Toon come to town.

Over 10.5 corners

Brentford have scored more goals from set pieces than any other side in the league this season and there is a good chance that they will have an opportunity to add to their impressive tally of 13 on Saturday afternoon.

Newcastle games have seen more corners than any other team this season. Eddie Howe’s side win an average of 6.8 corners per game and concede an average of 4.3, for a combined average of 11.1.

Brentford concede an average of 5.7 corners per game and win an average of 4.2 per game for an average of 9.9.

There is an excellent chance that we will see 11 corners or more on Saturday.
