Monday night’s European football is an all-Iberian affair as we’ll be checking in on Benfica who will be aiming to lift themselves five points clear of Porto at the top of the Primeira Liga when they face Boavista. In Spain we have a relegation six-pointer between Getafe and Valencia who are both desperate to get out of the dropzone.

Getafe v Valencia

TV: La Liga TV (8pm)

Getafe to Win

As you’d expect with two teams in the relegation zone, results have not been good for either side. The hosts have won none of their six La Liga fixtures, losing four and drawing two while at home have won one, drawn two and lost two, scoring just four goals while conceding four as well.

Valencia are winless over their last seven league clashes, losing six and drawing one, while on their excursions have drawn one and lost four, scoring two while conceding seven. Getafe have beaten Valencia in four of their last six visits to the capital and with the away side in such bad shape on the road we can see the hosts grabbing a very valuable three points here.

Domingos Duarte to be Shown a Card

Domingos Duarte has been one of the bad boys for The Azulones this campaign, picking up seven La Liga Yellow Cards so far this season. Carles Alena has gone one better but he’s suspended here following his two yellow cards, resulting in a dismissal, picked up in Getafe’s last match against Rayo Vallecano.

Duarte has picked up three bookings over his last five at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez and in what should be a bruising affair here we can certainly see the Portuguese international’s name being pencilled into the referee’s black book.

Benfica v Boavista

TV: BT Sport 2 (9:15pm)

Benfica -2

Benfica, who already hold the record for the most league titles in Portugal with 37, are two points above Porto at the summit of the Primeira Liga. A win here will obviously move them five points clear with 13 games to follow. The Lisbon side have won eight of their last 10 in the league, while on home turf have won four of their last five, scoring 14 while conceding just three.

Boavista are doing pretty well this season, they’ve eighth in the league at the time of writing, winning one, drawing three and losing one of their last five in the league. However, their away form is dire with five losses and one draw over their last six away games The hosts have won three of their last five in the league by at least three goals and with the visiting side in such bad shape on the road we see that trend continuing here.

Both Teams to Score, No

The hosts have kept five clean sheets over their last five league games and have kept four clean sheets over their last seven at the Estadio da Luz. While the visitors have been scoring a decent amount of goals of late, they’ve not been coming up against sides with a strong defence and we don’t see them scoring here.
