Brentford vs Crystal Palace – Under 1.5 Brentford cards

Brentford boast one of the best disciplinary records in the Premier League, picking up just 31 cards in 22 games this season.

Only Liverpool, West Ham, and Brighton boast better disciplinary records than Thomas Frank’s side, and they are unlikely to add significantly to their tally when Crystal Palace come to town on Saturday afternoon.

Brentford have received nine yellow cards in seven league games since returning from the World Cup break and have picked up one card or fewer in four of those seven games.

They are decent value to continue their excellent disciplinary record on Saturday afternoon.

Brighton vs Fulham – Over 2.5 goals

Brighton and Fulham are two of the surprise packages in the league this season.

Brighton have gone from strength to strength since losing Graham Potter to Chelsea and are currently just six points off the Champions League places with a game in hand on fourth-placed Newcastle.

Fulham, on the other hand, have finally moved away from being the Premier League’s perennial yoyo team, not only avoiding yet another instant relegation but punching well above their weight.

Fulham are currently seventh in the league, level on points with Brighton, although they have played two more games.

Both Fulham and Brighton have been immensely entertaining this season; Brighton’s record of 39 goals scored and 28 goals conceded is among the highest combined tallies in the league, while Fulham are not too far behind with 34 goals scored and 30 goals conceded.

Fulham beat Brighton 2-1 when the side met back in August, and it wouldn’t be too surprising to see a similar scoreline on Saturday.

Graham Potter Chelsea

Chelsea vs Southampton – Both teams to score? No

Chelsea have been awful since returning from the World Cup, winning just two of their eight league games.

Graham Potter’s side currently find themselves in tenth place, 10 points off the top four, and are now staring down the barrel of Champions League elimination following Wednesday night’s first-leg defeat in Dortmund.

They boast the worst attacking record in the top ten, scoring 23 goals in 22 games.

However, they also boast one of the best defensive records in the league, conceding 22 goals in 22 games – a record only bettered by Arsenal and Newcastle.

Chelsea have conceded one goal in four home league games since the World Cup break and should have little trouble improving that record on Saturday.

Southampton are well and truly in the mire and boast one of the worst goalscoring records in the division, scoring 18 goals in 22 games.

The Saints have failed to score in three of their last five league games and are unlikely to trouble Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Everton vs Leeds – Junior Firpo to be carded

Junior Firpo has only made two Premier League starts this season, but he has still managed to collect two bookings, with both coming in his last two games.

The Spanish full-back was over-zealous in challenges in successive games against Manchester United, earning him a yellow card at Old Trafford and the return fixture at Elland Road.

Firpo has made an average of 1.5 foul per game in the league this season, the second-highest of any Leeds player.

Considering Saturday’s visit to Everton is a relegation six-pointer, it is likely to be full-blooded and it wouldn’t be surprising to see a significant number of yellow cards.

Firpo is among the most likely players to receive one.

Nottingham Forest vs Manchester City – Brennan Johnson to have one or more shots on target

Manchester City returned to the Premier League summit after their 3-1 win at Arsenal on Wednesday, which is ominous for the rest of the Premier League.

On Saturday, they face a Nottingham Forest side who they thumped 6-0 in the reverse fixture last August and will be confident of another comfortable victory at the City Ground.

However, Forest are much improved since that early-season meeting, particularly on home soil.

Steve Cooper’s side have taken 14 points from their last six home games to move clear of the bottom three and give themselves a real chance of staying up.

The form of Brennan Johnson has been key to that home form, with the Welsh forward scoring vital goals in the recent wins over Leeds and Leicester.

Johnson is Forest’s top scorer this season and averages 1.5 shots per game in the league.

Although City are unbackable favourites to win on Saturday, Forest will make life difficult for them and Johnson is good value to test Ederson at least once.
