Cardiff to Win
We’ve got one for the purists in The Championship on Friday night as two out-of-form teams meet with both having enjoyed a rare win last time out. Cardiff in 21st welcome Paul Ince’s lower-mid-table Reading to south Wales and, if we’re being brutally honest, this is two poor teams and the bare statistics make grim reading.

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football
It’s hard to know where to look from a numerical point of view as there’s very little to catch the eye in a positive light. The Bluebirds have the 4th-worst home record and The Royals the second-lowest points haul on the road. Ince’s lads have conceded the fourth-most goals in the league while Cardiff have scored the fewest.
This will most likely be a war of attrition and, with such fine margins, it’s hard to look past Reading’s appalling away record. The Bluebirds haven’t won at home for 10 games but they won’t get a better chance to ignite their season than this so we’ll tentatively side with a Cardiff Win as Reading have lost five of their last six on their travels.
Under 2.5 Goals
It’s a little tricky to know where to go in the Overs/Unders markets as Reading have been racking up some pretty severe defeats of late but Cardiff just don’t score many goals at all. They’ve bagged just 24 goals in 32 games while The Royals have shipped an eye-watering 46 in 31.
There’s surely a decent chance that Reading are going to come here to try and limit the damage and try to improve on their shocking away form by keeping things tight. I’m not sure they’re capable of a clean sheet, even against this blunt Cardiff outfit, so I’ll side with a narrow home win with Under 2.5 Goals.
Callum Robinson To Score First
Callum Robinson has been Cardiff’s key man by a mile this season but he’s only bagged seven goals and six assists all season in all competitions so he’s not quite blowing the league apart. However, those numbers are four and three more than anyone else in the Cardiff squad so he’s our man if this is going to go how we think it might.
He did bag during their 2-0 win over Birmingham City on Tuesday night to wrap up the game in the 90th minute. We’ll back him to score a bit earlier here and take a punt that it could just be the only goal of the game so it’s a decent price on Robinson To Score First.

Tom Ince to Have 1 Or More Shots on Target
Reading’s main man this season has been the gaffer’s son Tom Ince who has seven goals and five assists from 32 appearances this season. That’s a combined direct goal involvement of 12, six more than any other Royal, the irrepressible hatchet man, Andy Carrol.
We’re getting a cracking price on Tom Ince to Have 1 Or More Shots on Target in this game. He’s averaging 0.7 Shots on Target per 90 minutes played and is attempting well over 1.0 per game but, with his set-piece ability and directness cutting in from the flank, he looks the standout bet in this market.
