Premier League Predictions: Lawro fancies Spurs win at Fulham tonight

Lawro's back with some more correct score predictions.

It’s another huge weekend of action with the underperforming duo of Liverpool and Chelsea facing off in Saturday’s early game and the title-chasing Arsenal hosting Manchester United on Sunday. With plenty of big games on the horizon we thought it was only right to bring in our resident tipster and Premier League predicting guru, Mark Lawrenson.

Take it away, Lawro…

Liverpool v Chelsea

Saturday, 12.30pm – BT Sport 1

Lunchtime fixtures are normally a little but dull as everyone’s still waking up! Off the back of Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Wolves in the week I’ll go for a Draw. Joao Felix is suspended for Chelsea and they actually looked better against Fulham even though they lost. Defensively they might stop Liverpool because I’m not sure who’s going to play up front for The Reds as Darwin Nunez is a big doubt. Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea.

RESULT: 0-0

Bournemouth v Nottingham Forest

Saturday, 3pm

Bournemouth are sinking like a stone after giving Gary O’Neil the job on a permanent basis. Nottingham Forest are on a good run at the moment and they’ve had some very handy results. It looks as though they’ve found their best team so I think they’ll have enough here. Bournemouth 0-1 Nottingham Forest.

RESULT: 1-1

Leicester v Brighton

Saturday, 3pm

Brighton come into this one on the back of that brilliant 3-0 win over Liverpool while Leicester lost to Nottingham Forest although they had some chances early on. They’re struggling to score and they just don’t look like a team at the moment, I don’t know what’s happened to them. Brighton are in great form again now. Leicester 1-2 Brighton.

RESULT: 2-2

Southampton v Aston Villa

Saturday, 3pm

Aston Villa beat Leeds 2-1 last weekend and Southampton did the same against Everton so both will be in high spirits. I’ve got a feeling Southampton will win this, they look like they’ve picked up all of a sudden after Nathan Jones got pelters in his first few games – which was ridiculous, by the way.  Southampton 2-1 Aston Villa.

RESULT: 0-1

West Ham v Everton

Saturday, 3pm

Both of these are struggling, West Ham haven’t won in the league for a while. This might just come down to West Ham having home advantage. The whole situation at Everton is a mess with the directors being told to stay away and all the protests. The problems go back years and they’ve just messed the whole club up. West Ham 2-1 Everton.

RESULT: 2-0

Crystal Palace v Newcastle

Saturday, 5.30pm – Sky Sports

Newcastle are doing extremely well as everyone knows but I’m going to go for a Draw here. I don’t think Palace are as bad as their recent results show and this could be the game they start to get back to it. Crystal Palace 1-1 Newcastle.

RESULT: 0-0

Leeds v Brentford

Sunday, 2pm – Sky Sports

I know they haven’t won in the league for a while but I’m going for Leeds to Win this. I love watching them because they’re just mad, absolutely mad! They’ve got so much energy, you just want to say to them some times, ‘For God’s sake, one of you stay in position so someone can pass the ball to you!’ But it’s good, it’s a fabulous watch as a neutral. I’ll go for a home win and it won’t be dull. Leeds 2-0 Brentford.

RESULT: 0-0

Manchester City v Wolves

Sunday, 2pm

I’ve seen loads of Wolves lately with them playing Liverpool a lot in the cup but I’ll go for Manchester City. They were disappointing at Old Trafford in defeat against Manchester United and I thought that once they scored they’d go on and win the game but they’re not quite at it at the moment. Kevin De Bruyne was unbelievably quiet, I know he set up the goal, but he looks like he’s got a World Cup hangover. They’ll still be too goo for Wolves, though. Manchester City 3-0 Wolves.

RESULT: 3-0

Arsenal v Manchester United

Sunday, 4.30pm – Sky Sports

Manchester United are still the only team to beat Arsenal in the league this year but Mikel Arteta made a few changes in that game and that gamble backfired. I’m going to go for Arsenal to turn the tables in this one. They’re excellent, they’ve got so many match winners and are strong at the back. They’re organised and have good players in all areas. I can’t see a weakness at the moment. Arsenal 2-1 Manchester United.

RESULT: 3-2

Fulham v Tottenham

Monday, 8pm – Sky Sports

Fulham should have got something out of the game against Newcastle with that bizarre Aleksandar Mitrovic penalty but you look at Spurs and you think, ‘What on earth is happening?’ Then, all of a sudden, they go and win and win comfortably. After losing against Arsenal it would be very Spursy for them to win this easily. Fulham 0-2 Tottenham.

RESULT: 0-1

LAWRO V PUNTER CHALLENGE

So, you’ve heard what Mark Lawrenson has to say, but can this week’s Paddy Power punter take down our game-guessing guru with their Premier League predictions?

If you don’t know what we’re talking about, where have you been? Every Premier League gameweek we’re putting up at least £/€50 – more if there’s a rollover – to anyone who can outsmart Lawro in guessing the outcome of that week’s games. All the rules are here, but in a nutshell it’s three points for a correct score, and one point for a correct result. Simples.

Sunderland supporter Ryan took home the £100 prize last weekend courtesy of a high-scoring 11-7 victory over our Lawro. That means we’re back to £50 in the pot for this week’s opponent, Aaron the Manchester United supporter from Kilmarnock! Here’s how he thinks it’s going to go down…

Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea

Bournemouth 0-2 Nottingham Forest

Leicester 1-3 Brighton

Southampton 2-1 Aston Villa

West Ham 2-0 Everton

Crystal Palace 0-2 Newcastle

Leeds 1-2 Brentford

Manchester City 3-0 Wolves

Arsenal 1-1 Manchester United

Fulham 2-0 Tottenham

RESULTS

It’s Lawro who is this week’s winner after Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Fulham in the Monday Night Football gave him a narrow 8-7 win over challenger Aaron, who backed the hosts to win. It means when we return after the FA Cup weekend for the next round of Premier League games they’ll be £/€100 up for grabs.
