Port Vale v Peterborough, League One, Monday 8pm.
TV: Sky Sports Football

Port Vale entertain Peterborough for Monday night’s televised game. At the time of writing the sides occupy 10th and 9th in the League Two standings which is likely to have changed by the time kickoff time comes around here. Neither side are in great overall form but Port Vale are decent on home turf and will be counting on that form to take the three points here.

Both Teams to Score

Both sides have similar stats when it comes to average goals per home/away league game with the hosts scoring 1.18 per home league game with the visitors averaging higher at 1.25 goals scored on the road. Port Vale are conceding 1.0 on average with Peterborough conceding 1.83 on their league outings.

The Valiants have scored seven over their last five at home, conceding five while the Posh have scored six over their last five on the road, conceding seven. With those stats, Both Teams to Score certainly has value.

Jonson Clarke-Harris to Score Anytime

We have to look at the away team’s highest goalscorer here. He has 13 League One goals this season from 24 games. The former Bristol Rovers man has a decent record against Port Valu too, netting two over his four previous appearances. He’s got three over his last seven away games too and we see Jonson Clarke-Harris as having the best value in the goalscorer markets.

Port Vale to Win

While Clarke-Harris should hit the back of the net for the visitors we don’t expect them to win. Port Vale’s Ellis Harrison and James Wilson have contributed 12 goals between them and are both in decent form of late, netting three between them over their last five games.

The home side have won four of their last seven at Vale Park, drawing one and losing two and we have to mention Peterborough’s terrible away form which has seen the Posh winning just two of their last 11 away League One games, losing eight of those 11. With those stats we have to go with the value here and back the hosts to take the three points.

Correct Score 2-1

We’ve made the case for both team scoring and Port Value to win so the scoreline that makes the most sense here is a 2-1 win to the hosts. That home form is going to be the key difference come Monday night and the home side know they can find that extra gear in front of their own fans. We reckon the most likely scoreline we’re going to see here is a 2-1 win for the Valiants.
