Thursday 8pm: Arsenal v Bodo/Glimt
TV: BT Sport 2 and BT Sport Ultimate
Arsenal (-1)
Arsenal’s unnervingly brilliant start to the season continued at the weekend with a dominant 3-1 win over 10-man Spurs in the North London Derby. They’ve failed to win just once this season and will be expecting another triumph on Thursday against Bobo/Glimt in the Europa League so let’s see if we can revel in their reflective glory with a winning Bet builder.
WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!
Given the mood around The Emirates, and the fact that everyone on and off the pitch seems to be singing off the same hymn sheet for the first time in a long time, I think we have to be on the side of Arsenal, even if they make 11 changes and hand out a few debuts to the kids.
Mikel Arteta rotated in their first group match away at FC Zurich and they still got the job done courtesy of a 2-1 victory. With home advantage, the crest of the wave being ridden by The Gunners and Bodo/Glimt’s poor recent form (just three wins in their last nine in all competitions) we should see a comfortable win for the Premier League side and for Arsenal (-1) to click in the alternative handicap markets.
Both Teams To Score
Looking at Arsenal’s run of eight wins from their nine games this season you might be tempted to side with Both Teams To Score? No, but the numbers tell us they’re likely to concede here. They’ve let in at least one in six of their games this season, or 66% of matches. At home they’ve conceded in 100%.
I think we can pretty safely say they’ll score as they’ve netted in 100% of games in 2022/23. For their Norwegian opponents, they’re bad at the back but still effective going forward. You have to go back 18 games for their last shutout when the mighty Linfield kept them at bay. They’ve also conceded in their last six and in eight of their last nine. The numbers say we should see Both Teams To Score here.

Eddie Nketiah to Score Anytime
One man who should start is Eddie Nketiah. Arteta persuaded him to stay last season amid reports he wanted to leave for more game time only for The Gunners to go an sign Gabriel Jesus as their new undisputed No.1 striker. Nketiah has been coming off the bench in short cameo appearances and his only start of the season came in the Europa League against FC Zurich.
He scored on that occasion and will be absolutely champing at the bit to get involved on Thursday night. With lots of changes on the agenda, backing Nketiah to Score Anytime could be your smartest play.
Marquinhos to Have 2 or More Shots on Target
Another forward likely to get the nod is 19-year-old Brazilian Marquinhos. He also started the Zurich game and played a blinder, scoring the opener and setting up Nketiah’s winner.
Like Nketiah he’s largely been confined to the bench and that Europa League game was his only start of this season. Given how well he played he’ll surely get the nod again and we’ll back him to improve on his one shot on target there this time around and take Marquinhos to Have 2 or More Shots on Target.
Amahl Pellegrino To Have 1 Or More Shots On Target
We’ve focused a lot on Arsenal but with Bodo/Glimt expected to score we can boost our odds by including their danger man, Amahl Pellegrino, to have a big impact. He’s already got 20 goals and six assists this season.
We’re not talking an Erling Haaland level of output though, The Norwegians have played 24 league games, a raft of cup matches, and are close to the end of their domestic season up in the artic circle. He’s in form and is averaging 1.8 shots on target per 90 minutes played. As such, we’re not asking too much for Pellegrino To Have 1 Or More Shots On Target.
