Wednesday 5.45pm: Shakhtar Donetsk v Celtic
TV: BT Sport 4
The Draw
Celtic were excellent in the first half of their group opener against Real Madrid last week but faded badly once the European champions took the lead at Celtic Park. However, Ange Postecoglou’s side provided plenty of evidence in those opening 45 minutes that they are capable of competing at the top level in Europe.
They face a tricky test here against a Shakhtar side that ripped RB Leipzig apart in their opening group game. Shakhtar scored four times from four shots on target and can take a giant step towards qualifying for the knockout stages with another victory.
Celtic, on the other hand, will be left with a mountain to climb if they leave Warsaw empty handed, making it imperative that they get a result. Shakhtar will look to emulate the smash-and-grab performance that devastated Leipzig last week but may struggle to do so in a game where they will be expected to play on the front foot. The Scottish champions can keep their Euro campaign alive with a Draw on Wednesday night.
Both Teams To Score
Celtic boast an almost impeccable defensive record in Scotland this season, conceding just one goal in six games. However, their second-half collapse against Real Madrid has highlighted the step-up in class associated with the Champions League.
Real Madrid carved through Celtic at ease in the second half last week and Shakhtar demonstrated how dangerous they are in a ruthless attacking performance in Leipzig. At the other end, Celtic created enough chances to take a comfortable lead in at the break last week but failed to take any of them.
They have scored 25 goals in six league games this season at a rate of more than four per game and will fancy their chances of scoring their first Champions League goals of the season in Warsaw. It’s Both Teams To Score next.

Kyogo Furuhashi to Score Anytime
Celtic felt Kyogo’s absence in last week’s defeat to Real Madrid. The Japanese forward was nursing an injury in last Tuesday’s defeat and was only sprung from the bench when the game was all but over.
Had he been on the pitch from the start, he could have easily finished off one of the excellent chances that Celtic carved out in the opening 45 minutes. Kyogo has scored six times in seven appearances for Celtic this season, an impressive feat considering he has played less than 30 minutes in his last two games.
He is Celtic’s most clinical forward by far and can help get the Bhoys off the mark in the Champions League this season. Kyogo Furuhashi to Score Anytime is your most likely bet in the goal scorer markets.
Matt O’Riley Anytime Assist
Matt O’Riley has been excellent for Celtic since joining the Scottish champions in the winter transfer market. The Danish youth midfielder has registered five assists in seven appearances for Celtic this season, more than anyone else at the club.
The 21-year-old has created 13 chances in those seven appearances, the joint-most of any Celtic player. O’Riley creates an average of 1.86 chances per 90 minutes and Celtic will need him at his most creative if they are to unlock the Shakhtar defence on Wednesday. We’ll bank on Matt O’Riley to grab an Anytime Assist here.
