Soccer soothsayer Mark Lawrenson returns to Paddy Power News for another round of his Premier League betting competition – and there’s £/€150 on the line in his latest duel with a Paddy Power punter.
Every Premier League matchday we’re putting up £/€50 to anyone who can outsmart Lawro in predicting the outcome of all 10 games. And with Lawro triumphing at the weekend and in midweek, we’ve rolled it over to TREBLE the prize for this week’s contestant.
After leaving his prediction job with the BBC, Mark Lawrenson has had a bit of time on his hands…

NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?
The rules are pretty simple: We’ll award one point for a correct result and three points for a correct score (max three points per game, there’s no four-pointers here). Malcolm from East London came for the king and missed during the week with Lawro running out an easy winner and having it in the bag before the final match on Thursday.
This time around we’re gearing up for our own Merseyside derby as Everton fan Daniel from Cornwall takes Liverpool great Lawro. Will this be as one-sided as we expect Saturday’s early game to be? Let’s get into the predictions
Everton v Liverpool
Saturday 12.30pm, BT Sport
LAWRO: Everton still haven’t won a game while Liverpool had that dramatic, late win against Newcastle which I was at. The Merseyside derby game is a horrible game to play in, as I know only too well. The big thing for Liverpool is to not let the Goodison crowd influence the game which is easier said than done. Everton 0-2 Liverpool.
DANIEL: Everton 1-3 Liverpool
RESULT: Everton 0-0 Liverpool
Brentford v Leeds
Saturday 3pm
LAWRO: Leeds have struggled a bit the last couple of games and Rodrigo’s now out for a while with that injured shoulder. That’s a big blow for them. Brentford are still working their way into the season but I think they’ll win, just. Brentford 2-1 Leeds.
DANIEL: Brentford 2-1 Leeds
RESULT: Brentford 5-2 Leeds
Chelsea v West Ham
Saturday 3pm
LAWRO: Who knows what Chelsea team’s turning up? It will be interesting to see who comes in and West Ham have signed loads of players. I know what David Moyes is like and he’ll be more than happy going there to stop Chelsea winning. Chelsea 1-1 West Ham.
DANIEL: Chelsea 2-1 West Ham
RESULT: Chelsea 2-1 West Ham
Newcastle v Crystal Palace
Saturday 3pm
LAWRO: Palace were pulled back by Brentford and Newcastle had a late loss to Liverpool in the week. Eddie Howe wasn’t too happy with having a day less than Liverpool to prepare. Alexander Isak was very lively at Anfield and he really comes alive in the box. He was up there on his own. I think the Geordie faithful might have a new God! Newcastle 2-0 Crystal Palace.
DANIEL: Newcastle 2-0 Crystal Palace
RESULT: Newcastle 0-0 Crystal Palace
Nottingham Forest v Bournemouth
Saturday 3pm
LAWRO: I don’t get where Bournemouth are going and they didn’t like that Scott Parker said they were in trouble but they are. Forest got hammered at Manchester City like everybody else. If either of these are going to stay up these are the games they have to win. Forest at least have quality and numbers. Nottingham Forest 2-1 Bournemouth.
DANIEL: Nottingham Forest 1-0 Bournemouth
RESULT: Nottingham Forest 2-3 Bournemouth
Tottenham v Fulham
Saturday 3pm
LAWRO: Fulham have got eight points, they’ve done well, and they look like they can scrap as well which hasn’t been the case in the past. Tottenham are at home and they’re going well so I think they’ll outclass Fulham. Tottenham 3-0 Fulham.
DANIEL: Tottenham 3-0 Fulham
RESULT: Tottenham 2-1 Fulham
Wolves v Southampton
Saturday 3pm
LAWRO: Southampton have been busy in the market but Wolves just can’t score. They might be signing a striker on deadline day but Bruno Lage’s under a bit of pressure I think so he might get a reaction. Wolves 2-1 Southampton.
DANIEL: Wolves 0-0 Southampton
RESULT: Wolves 1-0 Southampton
Aston Villa v Manchester City
Saturday 5.30pm, Sky Sports
LAWRO: Erling Haaland – oh my goodness! We weren’t sure what kind of impact he’d have but he’s been sensational. There’s only one person winning the Golden Boot unless he gets injured. Villa are a bit of a mess, I think we’ll see a better performance from them but obviously it won’t be enough. Aston Villa 0-2 Manchester City.
DANIEL: Aston Villa 0-3 Manchester City.
RESULT: Aston Villa 1-1 Man City
Brighton v Leicester
Sunday 2pm, Sky Sports
LAWRO: Brighton lost at Fulham which was a little bit surprising, I thought they’d at least get a draw there but Leicester are just in a mess. It’s very unusual but, given how bad Leicester are, I’m actually going to go for Brighton to score twice at home and win! Brighton 2-0 Leicester.
DANIEL: Brighton 2-1 Leicester.
RESULT: Brighton 5-2 Leicester
Manchester United v Arsenal
Sunday 4.30pm, Sky Sports
LAWRO: This is Arsenal’s toughest game so far. I was impressed with Manchester United at Southampton, not that they played particularly well but that they stuck at it. The system seemed to work for them and they scraped a 1-0. They’re still a long way from where they should be but I think the least they’ll get against Arsenal is a draw. Manchester United 1-1 Arsenal.
DANIEL: Manchester United 2-1 Arsenal.
RESULT: Man Utd 3-1 Arsenal
RESULT
After a bumper batch of 3pm Saturday matches it was Daniel who held a slender 5-3 lead thanks to him correctly guessing Chelsea’s 2-1 win over West Ham. There was no change to the score in Saturday’s late game with neither tipster expecting Aston Villa to take any points off Manchester City.
Both correctly predicted a win for Brighton over Leicester on Sunday – although neither could have expected such a thumping win from the usual profligate Seagulls. Daniel then correctly predicted Man Utd beating Arsenal at Old Trafford to extend his overall lead to 7-4.
