Whatever the state of the two teams, the Merseyside derby is always full of fireworks. Form doesn’t really matter all that much in games like this.

Liverpool will be favourites, of course, because they are the better side at the moment, but emotions can play a huge role in games like this.

Jurgen Klopp is very, very good at managing the team’s emotions, even if he’s not always able to control his own,

His side might’ve struggled a bit this season so far but that felt like a big goal for the team against Newcastle. Another draw would’ve meant you’re a few more points behind City and Arsenal and whoever else at the top of the table.

l expect them to be too good for Everton after that, They really should turn up here and I can see Liverpool winning by a couple in a goal-filled game.

I said at the start of the season I thought Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho would have a big impact on the Liverpool team this season because they can bring that touch of creativity in midfield.

They haven’t got the experience yet but they have a lot of ability. Elliott in particular is full of confidence too and he can go to the next level this season.

We saw him shine against Newcastle on Wednesday and just love his creativity. I’d expect him to get on the ball and make a few opportunities for himself and other in this.

For Everton, their young star Anthony Gordon looks like the best hope of sparking something on Saturday.

They really couldn’t afford to lose him this week despite the reports of huge transfer fees being offered for him.

You’d expect a player like him to thrive in a big game like this and I can see him producing something for the Toffees in the game.

With this being such a big derby, it’s always a fiery affair – especially when it’s at Goodison.

There’s an amazing atmosphere for these games. As a Liverpool player, you obviously take loads of stick, but those were always the best games for me.

You see all these raging faces in the crowd and the aggression on and off the pitch. That’s why you’re in the game in the first place, for occasions like that.

It’s what the game’s all about.

And of course, that pours down onto the pitch, so you should expect a lot of cards on Saturday,
