Celtic to Win

The Old Firm have both made excellent starts to the season, with Celtic putting in a series of impressive league performances to establish an early lead in the Scottish title race. Rangers have not been bad in the league by any means, but a 2-2 draw at Hibs means that they approach the first derby of the season two points behind their bitter rivals.

The Gers, however, have excelled in Europe in the early days of their campaign, coming from two goals down to beat Union Saint-Gilloise before producing a brilliant second-leg performance to overcome a formidable PSV side in Eindhoven. Giovanni Van Bronckhorst appears to get the best out of his side in Europe, guiding them through all six knockout ties they have been involved him since he took over.

Having said that, their league performances have been less than perfect since Van Bronckhorst took over, allowing Celtic to reclaim the Scottish title last season. Gers managed just one point from a possible nine against Celtic under the Dutch manager last season and it wouldn’t be hugely surprising if they fell to another defeat on Saturday.

Both Teams to Score

Celtic have been firing on all cylinders in the early stages of the season. The Scottish champions have scored a staggering 21 goals in their opening five league games at a rate of over four per game.

Most recently, they put nine past Dundee United in a game that ultimately saw Jack Ross lose his job as United manager. Celtic have only conceded one goal so far in the league but have not faced an attack like Rangers in their opening five games.

Although not quite at their level, Rangers have still scored 14 goals in their first five games of the season at a rate of almost three per game. The signing of Antonio Colak appears to have been a masterstroke, with the Croatian forward scoring seven goals in nine appearances since joining during the summer.

There should be goals on Saturday afternoon.

    Kyogo Furuhashi to Score First

Kyogo Furuhashi continued his excellent start to the season with a first-half hattrick at Dundee United last weekend. The Japanese forward has now scored six times in just five appearances this season, bagging in each of his last four games.

Kyogo has opened the scoring in each of those four games, putting Celtic into the lead against Ross County, Kilmarnock, Hearts, and Dundee United. After an injury-hit first season, he appears to be making up for lost time and can score his first-ever Old Firm goal on Saturday.

    Jota Anytime Assist

Like Kyogo, Jota has made an excellent start to the season, scoring three times and providing four assists in five appearances. Only Daizen Maeda has provided as many assists for Celtic this season as the Portuguese winger.

Meanwhile, no Celtic player has created more chances per 90 minutes than Jota, who averages 2.2 chances created per 90. He’s been excellent since making his loan move to Celtic Park permanent over the summer and will cause the Rangers defence plenty of problems.

He can add to his impressive assist tally during Saturday’s early kickoff.
