England v Germany at Wembley Stadium in the Women’s Euro 2022 final. Would you really want it any other way?
Sarina Weigman’s side have made it to a major final for the first time in 13 years after a highly impressive showing on home soil, while their opponents made it through a ‘Group of Death’ with Spain, Denmark and Finland before seeing off Austria in the first knockout round and beating France 2-1 in the semis, with both goals from captain Alexandra Popp, who is now the tournament’s joint top scorer.
NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?
On their last showing in a big tournament final, England were giving a 6-2 drubbing in the 2009 Euros by – you guessed it – Germany. There’s plenty of revenge to be had, then, and they’ll be cheered on by a full house in the capital.
It’s incredibly tough to pick a winner, with both sides only conceding just one goal each, and scoring 34 between them, so our traders have been busy doing their homework to pick out their four-leg Bet Builder. Let’s get their verdict on the action…

Half Time Result – Draw
While both sides have been very strong in attack, scoring 34 goals between them, it’s a strong defence which has done the business. Each have conceded just once in the tournament, and will likely approach this game in a cautious manner, making sure they are set up correctly. The 0-0 is the most likely half-time score, however, if we see an early goal from one team it will make the other side attack, so we are covering ourselves by going with the draw.
Lina Magull 1+ Shot on Target
Lina Magull has been the centrepiece of the German midfield, getting into forward positions and getting shots away regularly. She has scored twice in the tournament, along with getting six shots on target away, so at the odds offered she looks a really nice price to add another one in the final.

Lena Oberdorf to be shown a card
This one looks a really nice price. Oberdorf has picked up three yellows in the tournament, and is definitely the most likely German player to pick one up in the final. She’s a tough tackler, and has no problems dragging a player down if they beat her on the outside. She will be marking the tricky Fran Kirby for most of this one, so it wouldn’t be a shock to see her pick up a yellow.
Germany to receive the most cards
A very Germany-focussed Bet Builder! But how can we not include this selection when Germany have picked up eight yellows in their five games! Germany are a very physical side, with their high press and tough tackling. England, on the other hand, have picked up just two yellows, and with the home crowd supporting England, we might see German frustrations come out a little earlier.
