We’re taking in the 8pm action from the Coppa Italia and Brazilian Serie A for Sunday’s evening acca.

In Italy, there’s two newly promoted Serie B sides taking on Serie C opposition. Bari won the third tier last season, and will host Calcio Padova from the division they’ve just escaped. Meanwhile, Palermo were promoted via the playoffs in 2021/22, and will face Serie C side Reggiana in the Coppa Italia’s preliminary round.

NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?

We’re also looking at South America, where 5th-placed side in the Brazilian Serie A, Athletico Paranaense host heavyweights Sao Paulo – who are languishing in 10th place, well below their expectations. Finally, Atlético Mineiro travel to Internacional, in a game that sees 4th take on 7th – although the hosts could leapfrog their opponents with a victory.

We’ve picked out the value in these four matches to put together a four-leg accumulator for Sunday night. Have a gander…

Bari v Padova: Bari to win

Padova were beaten playoff finalists last year, so should put up a fight as they travel to last season’s Serie C B Division winners, Bari.

It’s difficult to side against the side in the higher division. Bari will be hoping for new £300k+ signing Walid Cheddira to get off to a good start, after joining from Serie B opposition Parma. With their spending in attack, by virtue of their promotion last season, we’re backing Bari as we kick off this acca.

Palermo v Reggiana: Under 2.5 goals

Palermo were last season’s Serie C play-off winners, keeping four clean sheets in their eight play-off games, including in both legs of the final.

Reggiana, meanwhile, had the second tightest defence in last season’s Serie C, which makes this an interesting matchup from a defensive standpoint.

That’s why we’re backing a low number of goals for this game, which seems too tight to call a winner, with Reggiana actually finishing with a higher PPG than Palermo last season, despite the latter’s eventual success. Our bet is under 2.5 goals in this one.

Athletico-PR v Sao Paulo: Both Teams To Score

The Brazilian Serie A has been on throughout the summer, with Sao Paulo in stuttering form, taking just eight points from their last eight games. However, all three of their last three matches have been score draws, with a total of 16 goals, and both teams have scored in four of their last five games.

For Athletico, their good form this season has also petered out a bit of late, with their last four games yielding four points – with two losses, one win and one draw. They’ve drawn three times in their last five home games too – with two score draws. Both teams to score has come through in six of their last 11 games.

Internacional v Atlético MG: Draw

These two sides met on the first day of the season, and Atlético ran out 2-0 victors. Although they’re now away from home, Miniero have the third-best away record in the league, having lost away from home only once all season – being unbeaten on the road for a run of four games. Their return of five away draws is the most in the league, alongside today’s opponents.

Internacional have lost at home only once, with four draws, and both these sides have established themselves as draw specialists – nine for the home side and eight for the away. Only Sao Paulo have drawn more Serie A games this year. So surely this one has draw written all over it?
