Legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese will direct the season finale of Amazon’s hotly anticipated docuseries ‘All or Nothing: Arsenal’, Paddy Power News can exclusively reveal.
Producers of the fly-on-the-wall documentary approached the Goodfellas director after last night’s 2-0 defeat at Newcastle left Arsenal’s Champions League aspirations in tatters.
NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?
WELL, HOW DOES £/€20 AFTER SIGNING UP SOUND?
To make matters worse, Mikel Arteta’s side look to have surrendered fourth spot to bitter rivals Tottenham who were four points behind the Gunners only a week ago.
The implosion will be part of a new All or Nothing series to be broadcast on Amazon Prime which has fans of rival clubs renewing subscriptions in their droves.
We understand Hollywood legend Scorsese has agreed to come on board the project – if Amazon execs agree to rename the documentary “All for Nothing: Arsenal”.
“Marty loved the script but had few provisos”, an Amazon source told PP News.
“First off, he wants the title changed to ‘All for Nothing’. Marty feels it better represents the story of Arsenal’s season”.
“He also wants Daniel Day-Lewis to play the part of Gunnersaurus in the final episode. He just feels the current guy isn’t bringing the level intensity the role of Gunnersaurus demands”.
Upon hearing the rumours linking him with the part, Day-Lewis told us: “I’ve played Christy Brown, Gerry Conlon – even Abraham Lincoln! But none as challenging as Gunnersaurus”.
“Playing the big green Arsenal mascot would be the only role I’d consider coming out of retirement for”.
The 65-year-old method actor also revealed how he is preparing for the role: “I’ve been wearing a 7ft dinosaur suit at all times. Even in bed.
“Occasionally, I’ll show up at some Sunday League games and try to entertain some people on the side-lines.
“But usually, they just throw half-full cans of lager and tell me to f**k off”.
Meanwhile, following the successful addition of the word ‘Spursy’ to the Oxford English Dictionary, there have been calls to add the word ‘Arsenaly’ too.
