Saturday night’s football Acca has us delving deep into the markets to find value. We’ll be looking at the final round of matches in Ligue 1 where Rennes host Marseille, the home side desperate for the win as they look to squeeze into the Champions League next season.
WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!
In Portugal, Sporting Lisbon end their league season with a home match against Santa Clara. In Spain, Celta Vigo entertain Elche and in the MLS Colorado Rapids face a stern test against Western Conference leaders Los Angeles FC.
Kicking us off, though, we have Roma battling for European football next season against a Venezia side who have a slim chance of Serie A survival.

19:45 Roma vs Venezia: Roma to Win to Nil
TV: BT Sport 1
Roma could qualify for next season’s Europa League by beating Feyenoord in Tirana in a couple of weeks in their Europa Conference League Final. However, Jose Mourinho doesn’t like leaving anything to chance so his side will be determined to get the three points that’ll put them a step closer to Europa League qualification.
Roma have won just one of their last five fixtures, drawing two and losing two but their home form has seen them going 11 undefeated. They’ve won four and drawn one of their last five at the Stadio Olimpico in all competitions.
Venezia have lost four of their last five Serie A matches, winning the other and have lost all six of their most recent away league games, failing to score in three of them. Roma have kept five clean sheets over their last seven home Serie A games and against a travelling side who have scored just two over their last five away games we have to go with Roma to Win to Nil here.
20:00 Rennes vs Marseille: Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals
TV: BT Sport 3
Should Marseille lose here and Monaco beat Brest then Marseille will finish third and have to go through Champions League qualification and Monaco (in third currently) will overtake them. Rennes though, in fifth, have a superior goal difference (+40) to Monaco (+23,) so if they win and Monaco lose they’ll overtake them and wrestle that final Champions League spot.
The home side aren’t in mighty form though, winning two of their last five in the league, losing the other three. At Roazhon Park, however, they’ve been excellent, winning nine of their last 10 in all competitions, losing the other.
Marseille have won two of their last five matches in all competitions, drawing one and losing two while in the league have won three and lost two. Their away form has seen them winning four of their last five, losing the other. Rennes and Marseille have scored 17 and 13 respectively over their last five Ligue 1 games and with so much on the line we’re expecting fireworks here; Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals has the best value for this one.

20:00 Celta Vigo vs Elche: Celta Vigo to Win
This late in the season, there’s no danger of either of these sides falling into the relegation battle or advancing into Europe so they should end the season playing with absolute freedom and wild abandon, shouldn’t they? Well, not quite. The hosts have won two of their last five, drawing one and losing two and share the same record over their last five at home in La Liga.
Elche have also won two, drawn one and lost two while away from home things are a little worse with two wins and three losses. Celta have been in better goal-scoring form though, netting nine over their last five at home and eight over their last five overall. The visitors, meanwhile, have scored just three over their last five away La Liga contests and five over their last five overall. With those goal stats we have to side with Celta Vigo here.
20:30 Sporting vs Santa Clara: Sporting to Win 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0
TV: FreeSports
Dethroned champions Sporting have had to settle for a Taca de Liga cup victory this season while they’re also assured of Champions League football again next season. They’ll want to give their fans a good send off here in their final Primeira Liga game and have been formidable at home of late, winning eight of their last 10 in the league, losing the other two.
Santa Clara won’t roll over, though, and they’ve been in good form of late, losing just one of their last 10 league games. They’ve won two and drawn three of their last five and have drawn four and lost one of their last five on their league travels.
Sporting are very short odds to win here and have kept seven clean sheets over their last 10 home league games. Granted, Santa Clara have proven difficult to beat of late but they’ve only scored two in their last five away games in the league and because of that we’re liking the odds here for Sporting to Win 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0.
20:30 Colorado Rapids vs LAFC: LA to Score Over 1.5 Goals
TV: Premier Sports 1
Colorado have won just three of their 10 MLS games so far, drawing three and losing four. While that doesn’t seem too bad we need to remember that form is key in football and of their last five MLS fixtures have won just one, drawing one and losing three.
Los Angeles, on the other hand, have been nothing short of outstanding, winning seven, drawing two and losing one of their opening 10. Of their last five fixtures in all competitions they have won four and drawn one. Over their five most recent league games, the Black and Gold have won three and a stat that jumped out at us here is that they’ve scored at least two goals in eight of their 10 MLS games this campaign. With the hosts in bad form we see that trend continuing here.
