Cristiano Ronaldo ended years of speculation about his supposed Nordic heritage by telling TV cameras ‘I’m not Finnish’.
The 37-year-old previously refuted claims he was born and raised in Finland but finally recanted on live television during a lap of honour at Old Trafford on Monday night.

Ronaldo made the admission after he and his United teammates were presented with the ‘We Beat Brentford At Home’ trophy following a 3-0 victory over The Bees.
The news will come as blow to Finnish sports fans who were tired of watching Formula 1 racing.
As he walked towards the Stretford End, smiling and waving at the 13 supporters who had stayed behind, Ronaldo told cameras:
‘I’m not Finnish’.
‘Sure, I like the odd sauna but I wasn’t born in Finland’.
‘It’s just a sh*t Sweden and Darude’s Sandstorm was a poor man’s Castles in the Sky’.
Meanwhile, Norwich City’s Teemu Pukki who retains his status as the most prolific Finnish goalscorer in English football, welcomed the news.
‘Of course, I am honoured to be mentioned in the same breath as Cristiano’, Pukki told Paddy Power News.
‘To be honest, it’s a welcome relief from the Grant Holt comparisons’.
The 32-year-old revealed he has a big fan in Norwich’s majority shareholder Delia Smith.
‘Delia said I’ve scored some of the best Norwich goals she’s ever slept through – and that’s a lot of goals’.
Pukki also pledged to score the goals to return relegated Norwich to the Premier League.
NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?
WELL, HOW DOES £/€20 AFTER SIGNING UP SOUND?
‘It’s the club’s aim to make ourselves the bookie’s favourites for relegation from the Premier League during the 2023/24 season’.
‘We look forward to an eternity of perennial yo-yoing, along with West Brom, Fulham and Watford’.
‘I’m in no doubt Neil Warnock will be involved in some capacity’, added the Finn.
