Football Tips: Tonight’s Premier League 9/1 treble from across the top flight

Our footie tipster Andrew Cunneen has a trio of picks in mind.

The absolute best part about this stage of the season is the drama. But failing that, it’s the value.

Now, what I mean by the former is fairly self-explanatory. City are chasing a title with Liverpool; Everton are fighting to avoid the drop; Man United are trying their upmost to finish ahead of Wolves.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

It’s the second part that some people have trouble with. Value really implies that prices are wrong or there’s enough discrepancy between the actual chance of something and its implied probability.

But actually, what I mean is that, come the final stretch of the year, teams who are relatively midtable with very little to play for are unpredictable when they face opposition in similar situation.

We’ve covered Chelsea v Arsenal and here’s a look at the best of the rest on Wednesday night.

7:45pm: Newcastle v Crystal Palace – Crystal Palace: Draw No Bet

Newcastle are boring and fighting for very little, which is a step in the right direction. And for that alone, it will tell you the state of affairs in which they’ve found themselves of the last couple of decades.

Palace have done a Palace and Patrick Vieira looks semi-competent – maybe his pressers might evolve now into something other than asking him to reflect and comment on his time at Arsenal.

The Eagles – which I presume is the least-known Premier League nickname of all-time – might have lost to Leicester last time out, but prior to this were on a five-game unbeaten run that included impressive victories over Arsenal and Wolves, as well as hitting Watford for four.

Eddie Howe is kind of gung-ho – which is a rhyme I’ll now be copyrighting – and so taking the draw in the leg isn’t worth the hit to the price.

7:45pm: Everton v Leicester – Leicester to Win

In what world are we getting this price for a team with clinical finishers and excellent crossers of a football to beat this Everton side? It’s not something I can feel I can pass up anyway, so I’ll be having a bit of that. Maybe the price about Everton is more reflective of their individual parts but as a unit, they’re dysfunctional.

And I wouldn’t be using that win over Man United as any sort of indication that they’re going to enter a run of form. Since mid-September, they’ve had a decent result and immediately followed it up with an embarrassing defeat. This is their blueprint now.

8pm: Man City v Brighton – Man City to Win to Nil

Yes, it’s not inventive. And yes, it’s safe. But both of those qualities are exactly what have Man City getting the upper hand in this title race. No longer are they flashy and high-risk, having Aguero’s nose to sniff out chances they so desperately need to convert. Now they’re a well-oiled machine who teams have absolutely no desire to try and break against.

They’ll probably win this game 2-0 and everyone will tell you for the next six weeks how Liverpool deserved the title for their exciting brand of football. Nonsense.
