Wednesday night sees Arsenal travel to Chelsea looking to regain some form in their quest for a top-four finish. The hosts, meanwhile, put their dramatic Champions League exit at the hands of Real Madrid behind them by reaching the FA Cup final with victory over Crystal Palace at Wembley on Sunday.

While Chelsea v Arsenal doesn’t quite tickle the tastebuds like years gone by, it should still be an exciting encounter under the Stamford Bridge floodlights. And, for an added extra, we’ve put together a tasty four-leg Bet Builder to get stuck into.

Chelsea to win

You have to hand it to Arsenal. Just when it looked like they had finally closed the door on the embarrassing shambles that has been the last five years, they go and Arsenal it up in the most Arsenal way imaginable. Mikel Arteta’s side looked in pole position to end their five-year hiatus from the Champions League but have taken zero points from their last three games against Crystal Palace, Brighton, and Southampton.

Not only do their hopes of Champions League qualification look increasingly remote, but they have somehow managed to fall behind a Manchester United side that dropped five points against Leicester and Everton in the same period. They face a Chelsea side on Wednesday night that has gone through a very peculiar run of results since the March international break.

They were embarrassed at home by Brentford in the league before faling to a calamitous 3-1 home defeat against Real Madrid in Europe, but they have since recovered to hammer Southampton 6-0 in the league in addition to beating a strong Palace side 2-0 to reach a third successive FA Cup final.

Sandwiched in between those two results was an impressive win at the Bernabeu that ultimately wasn’t enough to see Chelsea through to the semi-finals. They seem to have rediscovered their form and should have enough to see off a struggling Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

Both teams to score? No

Arsenal have scored just one goal in their three games since the international break, struggling to break down rigid defences that set out their stall. It’s not like the Gunners haven’t had chances. Arteta’s side managed a combined 43 shots on goal in the recent defeats against Brighton and Southampton, scoring just once through a deflected effort.

It represents a wider problem fora side who have scored just twice in their last five games and who have scored at least seven goals fewer than any other club in the top seven. It’s almost like relying on the finishing of Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah wasn’t the tactical master plan that everyone thought it was.

They face a Chelsea side that has conceded seven goals in their last two outings at Stamford Bridge but who have still just conceded 23 goals in 39 league games – the third-best defensive record in the division behind Liverpool and Manchester City. The Blues easily kept Arsenal at arm’s length in the reverse fixture at the Emirates earlier in the season and should do so again on Wednesday.

Mason Mount anytime assist

Mason Mount has been by far and away the most creative player in the Chelsea squad this season. The English midfielder has registered 14 assists in all competitions this season, at least twice as many as any other Chelsea player.

The England international has registered six assists in his last nine outings in all competitions and seems to finally be finding the form that terrified defences last season. Mount averages almost two key passes per game this season and creates 1.5 chances per 90 minutes.

He is undoubtedly Chelsea’s most creative player and can cause serious damage against a vulnerable Arsenal side at Stamford Bridge.

Over 10.5 corners

Chelsea boast one of the highest corner averages in the Premier League, with their average of 6.3 per game only bettered by Liverpool and City. Arsenal’s average is not quite as impressive, but the Gunners average of 5.3 per game is still the sixth-highest in the league.

Chelsea have won 36 corners in their last six league games at a rate of exactly six per game, while Arsenal have won 29 in the same period at a rate just shy of five per game. Their combined corner count should rise above 10 on Wednesday night.
