New Leeds boss Jesse Marsch to sign Roy Kent after Ted Lasso tip-off

A blockbuster signing.

New Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch is hoping to make former AFC Richmond midfielder Roy Kent his first signing following a glowing reference from his compatriot Ted Lasso.

Kent is a free agent since leaving The Greyhounds at the end of last season and Marsch sees the combative midfielder as the ideal man to help Leeds in their quest for Premier League survival.

“Leeds are so lame at soccer right now, man,” Marsch told Paddy Power News. “We’ve got some fine young players on the roster but we need men, big hairy manly men, if we’re gonna get this franchise out of the demotion zone.

“And they don’t come much hairier and manlier than Roy Kent.”

Former Red Bull Salzburg coach Marsch took charge of the Elland Road outfit on Monday following the dismissal of Marcelo Bielsa.

It’s understood the Argentine was sacked for gross negligence after conceding four goals in consecutive home games against Manchester United and Tottenham.

NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?

Upon accepting the Leeds job, Marsch was contacted by Ted Lasso who recommended out-of-contract Kent to his fellow countryman.

Lasso rose to prominence after guiding American college football outfit Wichita State Shockers to a Division II National Collegiate Athletic Association championship.

He then made the successful transition from American football to soccer when he was unexpectedly recruited to coach English Premier League side AFC Richmond.

“Roy’s the hairiest man I’ve ever seen in the locker room,” Lasso told Paddy Power News.

“Imagine the love child of an early Premier League era Richard Keys and a Mork & Mindy era Robin Williams.

“A fine specimen of manhood. That is to say he is, not has. I’m not saying he doesn’t, I’m sure it is.

“But enough about Roy’s manhood. I’d like to take this opportunity to wish my buddy Jesse every success at the Leeds. Marsching on together!”.
