There’s plenty of action for us to get our teeth stuck into on Monday night. We’ll look at the two AFCON games with quarter-final places on the line. We’ll also be diving into a crucial Championship clash and finally we’re heading to Spain to look at a Segunda Division showdown. Let’s check out our acca for Monday!
Guinea face Gambia in their African Cup of Nations Round of 16 showdown, with the winner earning a place in the quarter-finals. Gambia are yet to lose in the tournament and they’ve conceded just one goal in three games. Guinea, who reached the quarter-finals in 2015, have more experience in the competition and a stronger squad. However, they are without Liverpool’s Naby Keita for Monday’s showdown. Gambia are hard to beat and they’ll be full of confidence after their impressive group stage run but we’re going to back The Draw.
AFCON hosts Cameroon face debutants Comoros with another quarter-final spot at stake. Cameroon topped their group and finished unbeaten after winning two and drawing one. They also netted seven goals in just three games. Comoros booked their place in the Round of 16 after an 85th minute winner against Ghana in their final group stage game. Cameroon will have the crowd on their side and we’re backing them to end Comoros’ tournament. The Cameroon to Win odds aren’t good enough so we’re on Cameroon -1 on the Handicap betting.
Blackburn v Middlesbrough sees two in-form Championship sides go head to head in a game that will affect the playoff picture. Blackburn lost on Wednesday evening but that’s their only defeat in their last 12 games. Chris Wilder’s Middlesbrough are flying too and they’re unbeaten since November. Blackburn, who are third in the Championship, are without their talisman Ben Brereton Diaz, who is on international duty with Chile. Middlesbrough are seventh in the league and they’ll know how important a win could be for their promotion hopes. We reckon these two high flyers could cancel each other out at Ewood Park so we’re on The Draw.
Finally, we’re heading to Spain for Almeria v Eibar in a top-of-the-table clash in the Segunda Division. Almeria are top of the league and currently boast a two point lead and a game in hand. Eibar, meanwhile, are third and a win would move them up to second. Almeria’s form has dipped slightly in recent weeks, however, they’ve won eight of their 11 home league games and scored 20 goals in the process. Almeria have struggled away from home and they’ve won just once in their last six games. We fancy the home side to get the job done against the poor travellers. Almeria to Win will do us!
Monday’s acca:
4pm: Guinea v Gambia – Draw 7pm: Cameroon v Comoros – Cameroon -1 7:45pm: Blackburn v Middlesbrough – Draw 8pm: Almeria v Eibar – Almeria to Win
