We’ve made it once again, Friday night is within touching distance, and as always there’s a smattering of soccerball from across the continent to help get you in the mood for another weekend of wall-to-wall action.
Admittedly it’s not quite the cream of the crop on offer on Friday, what with all the European action that’s been going off this week. Still, there’s plenty to enjoy with action from Italy, Spain, France and England.
I’ll try and unearth some winning value for you on Friday in the form of a fiery four-fold. I can see you there, winding down the work week. So, come take a look at the selections for Friday night.
The worst team in Serie A travel to take on the second-worst as rock bottom Salernitana face Cagliari. These two have amassed just 14 points between them – seven each – from a combined 26 games. Salernitana have won twice, drawn once and lost 10 while the hosts have won once, drawn four and lost eight.
This is a tricky one as neither side is particularly trending toward anything other than being bad! Obviously you can’t trust either of these to get a result with three wins in their combined 26 efforts. It might be best to side with backing their general rubbishness to continue and Under 2.5 Goals.
Athletic Bilbao in 8th are staring down the barrel of a mid-table season but a win over 17th-placed Granada would give them renewed hope of a run at the European spots. Bilbao are four points off the continental places and one below the once-mighty Barcelona.
They haven’t won in four games with three draws and a loss while the away side last won three games back. Scoring goals has been an issue for both of late with just seven in seven for Granada and seven in their last nine for Bilbao. With both keeping it tight I expect this one to be very close and Under 2.5 Goals feels like your safest bet at a decent-enough price.
Lens are, to everyone’s surprise, flying high and sit 4th in Ligue 1. The Red and Gold host Angers who are also going nicely in 6th on Friday night. Lens are very hit and miss, though, winning and then losing their last six matches. To sum it up perfectly, In their last eight they’ve won four and lost four.
Angers have only won two of their last 10 in all competitions, drawing five and losing three. The key here is that Lens have won their last three home games with those losses coming on the road. As they’re on home soil again on Friday I’ll side with the Lens Win.
We’re finishing off in old Blighty where 3rd-placed West Brom tackle an improving Nottingham Forest who are up to 13th. The Baggies are on a bit of a downward trajectory and have just one win on their last five. Forest’s revival has stalled and after winning five in six they’ve won just once in their last six.
So, who is getting back on the horse here? West Brom have just stopped scoring and have just two goals to their name in their last five. The Tricky Trees are finding the net with more regularity but this one just has The Draw written all over it for me and, at the price, is well worth a go.
