For Monday night’s football action, we’re heading to the National League where Wrexham are hosting Notts County at the Racecourse Ground.
Both teams have had decent starts to their respective seasons and with Notts County having done the double over Wrexham in their league meetings last season, the home side will be gunning for revenge. Let’s have a look for the three best bets for this clash.
Normally we wouldn’t put too much weight on friendly results, but it’s worth mentioning here that Wrexham only played three games, winning two and drawing one. Notts County have played six, winning three, drawing one and losing two. So far this season Wrexham have won one and drawn one, while County won one and drew one of their National League games.
The Welsh outfit were pretty decent at home last season, winning 10 of their 21 home games, scoring 1.52 goals per game. Notts Country were almost just as good, winning nine of their 21 away games, drawing seven and losing five.
Monday 19:30 – Wrexham v Notts County
BT Sport 1
The Magpies averaged 1.0 goals per away game. Meanwhile, Wrexham scored 10 over their last four league games at home and, County scoring eight over the same period, we should see both getting on the scoresheet here.
Notts County have netted at least two goals in four of their last six games in the National League. Wrexham have been in mighty goal-scoring form over their most recent league games though, scoring two goals per match in seven of their last nine matches. Even though both teams were playing Saturday and won’t have had much rest, the sides have grabbed four and six goals respectively this season.
It’s worth mentioning here too that Wrexham have conceded nine goals over their last six National League games and we should see a few goals here, but Wrexham to Score Over 1.5 Goals is a very good price for the above stats.
While it would seem like we’re tipping Wrexham in the above paragraph, Notts County are no pushovers and, as mentioned above, they beat Wrexham twice last season. The Red Dragons were pretty strong at home last term, where they only lost five of their 21 league games and have so far scored two goals in both of their opening National League fixtures, but they do concede quite a few goals too.
Both teams are in decent form though, particularly in front of goal, and it’s hard to separate them here. We reckon we’re looking at a high-scoring draw here.
