It’ll be a little bit tougher here for Tottenham as it looks like Harry Kane will be absent but I expect a bounce back from the players after Jose Mourinho’s sacking. There has definitely been an element of some players not playing for Mourinho in the last few weeks. We’ve seen numerous below-par performances.
18:00: Tottenham v Southampton
Sky Sports Main Event/Sky Sports Premier League
Spurs will either go with Carlos Vinicius or Son Heung-min up top against Southampton. Either way, I expect Tottenham will have too much for Southampton, who were outplayed in their FA Cup semi-final against Leicester last weekend. I’ll be backing Tottenham to win.
We all imagine players are immune to the media frenzy but I just wonder about City and whether they could lose focus. Since Pep Guardiola joined City, their target has been to win the Champions League. Now, there’s the possibility that they could be thrown out of the competition due to their European Super League commitment.
20:15: Aston Villa v Man City
Sky Sports Main Event/Sky Sports Premier League
I’m wondering whether that could be weighing on City’s mind a little bit. It’s hard to back the odds-on City here and Villa without Jack Grealish aren’t the same. I’m going for Fernandinho to be carded rather than picking a winner at Villa Park. There’s always a chance Fernandinho can pick up a card, especially as he’s older now and not quite as mobile.
We’ve seen it a few times this season and he picked up a yellow in City’s FA Cup semi-final defeat against Chelsea on Saturday.
