Obviously enough, much of the attention of the football-loving world is currently focused on off-field shenanigans but don’t let it slip under your radar that European seasons are coming into their final stretch and there are still plenty of league titles and European places, competitive ones that is, to be decided. For Wednesday’s footballing Acca we want to take a look at some top-of-the-table clashes happening in Italy, Germany and Spain. Let’s have a look at where we’ve found some value.

New to Paddy Power?

5.30pm: AC Milan vs Sassuolo – Milan to Win and BTTS

Barring a total collapse by Inter, AC Milan’s chances of landing a Serie A title look pretty slim. They are currently nine points behind Inter with seven games to go but that won’t stop them trying to close the gap as the season winds down. They’re on a decent run of late, winning three of their last five in the league, drawing and losing one.

Sassuolo have had a pretty decent season even riding out the odd wobble here and there. They’ve won two of their last five in the league, drawing one and losing two. At home, Milan’s form has seen them winning just one of their last five, drawing two and losing two while Sassuolo over their league travels have won two and lost three. Neither team could claim to have the best defence in the league and they both rarely get a clean sheet. Both should get on the scoresheet here but Milan’s recent improvement in overall form means they have the momentum and should take all three points. We’re backing Milan to Win and BTTS.

7.30pm: Dortmund vs Union Berlin – Home Win & Over 2.5 Goals

Dortmund come into this match four points behind the final Champions League place in the Bundesliga. Their form isn’t the best of late having won just two of their last five in all competitions, losing the other three but their home league form has seen them win four of their last six in the league, drawing and losing one apiece. Union have won two of their last five in the league, drawing two and losing one. However, away from home they’ve won just one of their last five, drawing two and losing two.

The sides have met four times over the last three seasons and they have been cracking encounters. Union have won two, Dortmund won one and won another in Extra Time. Over 2.5 goals landed in all. There’s much to play for here, Dortmund need to get back into the Champions League places while Union are seeking to reach the Europa League spots. Both teams will be going for it here but Dortmund have the firepower and experience to come out on top. There’s value here in backing the home side and Overs.

7.45pm: Spezia vs Inter – Both Teams to Score

Inter could take yet another important step towards landing their first Serie A title since 2009/10 here. They’ve now gone 12 matches in all competitions without defeat but face a Spezia side who are undefeated over their five most recent home league matches. Spezia have scored a very respectable 10 goals over those matches, Inter have scored nine over their five most recent away Serie A matches.

Inter have won four and drawn one of their last five on the road in the league and while they should come out on top here Spezia’s home scoring record is putting us off backing them outright. There’s better value to be had in backing Both Teams to Score when both teams have such impressive goal-scoring stats.

9pm: Cadiz vs Real Madrid – Both Teams To Score

Cadiz’ recent form has been pretty good in the league, winning two, drawing two and losing one. Real are doing incredibly well and have now gone 15 matches in all competitions without defeat. They’re just three points behind Atletico Madrid at the top of the La Liga table but with a vastly inferior goal difference a win here would only draw them level until Atletico face Huesca on Thursday evening.

Interestingly the odds on Both Teams to Score are pretty high and Cadiz have been good for a goal in five of their last six La Liga matches. Real’s defence has won much praise this season but the fact is they’ve only kept two clean sheets over their last seven La Liga matches. They’ve kept just two clean sheets over their last six away La Liga matches too. They share a stat in that Cadiz are averaging 0.88 goals per home La Liga game while Real are conceding 0.88 goals per away match and while this is the riskiest of our picks here, Cadiz’s recent form coupled with Real not keeping many clean sheets of late means we’re going with the value odds here. We’re backing Both Teams to Score.
