Justice Refund: Paddy pays out £11k to punter let down by Arsenal’s calamity

It was a case of Paddy to the rescue for this Irish punter.

There’s nothing punters love more than a small stake on a big odds footie flutter at the weekend and that’s what one of our customers from Ireland did last weekend. Focusing on the Saturday March 06 ties, our man placed just €5 stake on a whopping 21-leg acca that returned €11,400 should it come up.

Our bettor must possess an encyclopedic knowledge of football as he picked games from 11 leagues from nine different countries across Europe, but what he didn’t account for was Arsenal being bloody Arsenal!

After seeing The Gunners controversially denied victory against Burnley at Turf Moor in the most Arsenal way possible, our punter watched on helplessly as leg after leg of the rest of his acca came in as the day wore on. As the final selection went into the win column our customer at least got his stake back as a free bet thanks to our ACCA insurance promotion, but that wasn’t good enough for us and our Justice Refund squad swung into action.

After picking Mikel Arteta’s side in the early Premier League kick-off on Saturday, our punter saw them take an early lead through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and then The Gunners squandered three gilt-edged opportunities to make it 2-0, meaning they would have triggered our 2 Up – You Win! offer and that would have made the leg a winner.

Then disaster struck as Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka received the ball inside his own box from goalkeeper Bernd Leno and inexplicably decided to try to spray the ball out to the ring back without looking. His no-look pass went straight onto the grateful belly of Burnley striker Chris Wood and into the net for one of the strangest goals you’ll see all season.

Following that Arsenal should have had a penalty after Erik Pieters appeared to clearly handle the ball inside the box, only for VAR to do nothing about it. Minutes later Arsenal were given a penalty as Nicolas Pépé crashed the ball goalward only for it to be blocked by Pieters and The Clarets defender was subsequently sent off for deliberate handball, but VAR got involved this time after it was revealed Pieters had legally made a miraculous clearance.

To make matters even worse, there was still time for Pépé to miss from six yards and for Dani Ceballos to hit the post as the game eventually ended 1-1, making our customer’s bet a loser before it ever really got going.

Mikel Arteta

Our punter selected games from England, Scotland, Germany, Holland, Portugal, Russia, Sweden, Romania and Austria in his bonkers bet and he must have been feeling it even more when Utrecht converted a 97th minute penalty to win their Eredivisie game away to RKC Waalwijk, on what would have been the final game of his accumulator.

That result meant he had 20 legs of his 21-leg punt as winners and was only let down by Arsenal’s arsing! We couldn’t stand for that kind of injustice and we decided it was only right to pay him out after being so unlucky.

That meant he was a winner after all, and a tidy total of €11,400 was on its way to Ireland! That’s just how we roll folks, consider justice served.
