If we look at the odds on offer my gut tells me I can’t be backing Palace at odds on against anyone in the league, even Sheffield United. There’s 17 points between these two sides.
In terms of a ‘fairness table’ where Sheffield United had got the points that they deserved, I reckon there’s only about four points between the two. I think there’s nothing to choose between these two sides other than one’s been getting results and the other hasn’t.
Saturday 3pm: Crystal Palace v Sheffield United Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League
United have lost 14 games this season but 11 of them have been by a single goal and in half of those games the winning goals has come after the 60th minute so they’re losing games late on. There’s no doubt Sheffield United are still working hard, they’re still trying for Chris Wilder – I haven’t given up on them yet.
For all these reasons I’m actually siding with them here on Saturday. I’m going with Sheffield United (+1) on the handicap. Sheffield United fans don’t give up hope yet there’s still a chance they can end the season on a high.
That said, I won’t be giving you a Sheffield United goal scoring tip! It’s hard to back anyone from Sheffield United in terms of a First Goal Scorer. Wilfried Zaha is probably the man to go for as a First Goal Scorer.
He’s got eight goals in 14 games already this season – that’s twice as many as he got in the whole of the league season last year. One caveat I would give with that is that Zaha’s scored two penalties this season already but those two came when Luka Milivojevic was on the bench. If he plays Milivojevic will be on the pens.
