Tuesday 6pm: Burnley vs Sheffield United

Burnley to win @ 7/5

Sheffield United can finally draw the curtains on a miserable year when they take on Burnley, but it looks like their brief stay in the Premier League is already at an end.

Chris Wilder’s side are now in a battle to avoid the embarrassment of emulating the Derby side of 07/08 and need to pick up a win quickly.

However, they will struggle to do so against a rejuvenated Burnley side that has collected 11 points from their last seven games and only lost on Sunday thanks to a controversially disallowed goal.

Sheffield United were once again close to picking up a valuable point on Boxing Day, but it was the same old story for the Blades who came up short once more.

They now look certainties to go down next May and they could suffer one more disappointing defeat before 2020 finally draws to a close.

Tuesday 6pm: Southampton vs West Ham

Draw @ 12/5

Both Southampton and West Ham are in with a reasonable chance of breaking into top-seven this season and should be evenly matched on Tuesday at St. Mary’s.

West Ham have improved dramatically since the start of the season and have proved difficult to beat in their 15 games so far, especially away from home.

The Hammers have only lost two of their last eight games – against Manchester United and Chelsea – and can count themselves unfortunate that they didn’t at least draw both of them.

They have been reasonably strong on their travels this season and will be difficult to break down on Tuesday night.

Southampton, on the other hand, have been decent this season but have stuttered somewhat in recent weeks.

The Saints have won just two of their last seven games in the league after winning four of their previous five games beforehand.

Their poor run of form has seen them slip down the league table, but they should be good enough to at least draw with West Ham on Tuesday.

Tuesday 6pm: West Brom vs Leeds

West Brom to win @ 5/2

Leeds are by far the most entertaining team to watch in the Premier League this season, but they can never be relied upon to be consistent.

They thumped Newcastle just before Christmas only to be thumped themselves by Manchester United just four days later, while they were comfortable beaten by Crystal Palace and Chelsea either side of an impressive win at Everton.

It stands to reason, therefore, that they will struggle to build on their 1-0 win against Burnley when they take on West Brom on Tuesday night.

In truth, they were very fortunate to beat Burnley on Sunday and will come up against a similar style of opponent at the Hawthorns.

West Brom, meanwhile, shocked most of the football world by becoming the first team to take points off Liverpool at Anfield this season.

The Baggies will almost certainly become more pragmatic under the direction of Sam Allardyce and it will be something of a clash of styles at the Hawthorns.

Leeds, who have struggled from set pieces all season, may be undone by one of Allardyce’s most tried and trusted weapons.
