Molde currently sit second in Group B behind Arsenal on six points. Rapid Vienna are also on six points. Molde are ahead thanks to beating Rapid earlier in the season but the Austrians face a tough test away to Arsenal while Molde will see this as a must-win for them to qualify for the next round.
Dundalk haven’t exactly done themselves proud with their four losses. That might be a bit harsh – they’ve played some good football – but it’s a results business. They’ve scored 16 goals over their last three matches (helped majorly by an 11-0 FAI Cup win) though and will be desperate to finally get some points on the board here.
Molde have scored at least once in 10 of their last 11 matches in all competitions. At home their record stands at having scored at least one goal in 15 out of 17 previous matches at the Aker Stadion. The good news for Dundalk here is that they’re conceding goals as well. Over Molde’s last six home matches, four of them have seen BTTS landing and it has also occurred in four out of their last six both home and away.
As said earlier, Dundalk have scored a mammoth 16 goals over their last three matches and over their 12 most recent away matches they’ve scored in all but two. There’s little doubt the home side will score here, and while Rapid must face Arsenal in London, Molde will see this as a potential three points that will have them with one foot in the next round. Dundalk though have really found their scoring boots of late and that impressive run of goals, particularly on the road, is pointing us towards BTTS here. Very decent odds considering those stats.
Over 2.5 Goals has landed in 10 out of Molde’s 11 most recent home matches. Over 3.5 has occurred in five. Five out of Dundalk’s last seven away matches have also seen Over 2.5 Goals landing while Over 3.5 Goals occurred in three. We have to go with Molde here. Dundalk, while in great goal-scoring form, just haven’t delivered at this level and Molde will have the added motivation of qualification for the next round on their minds too.
Add to this their impressive home wins record mentioned above and you can easily see why they should win here. But the goals should flow here. Both teams are scoring for fun and we’re getting nice odds on the home side to win and Over 3.5 Goals landing.
Leke James’ record at Molde is quite impressive. Since signing for the Norwegians in 2018 he’s played 55 times, netting 31 goals. He’s their leading scorer in the Eliteserien this season with 11 goals over 18 league appearances and netted twice in his four Europa League matches so far this campaign.
He’s in decent recent form too, having scored two over his last five matches in all competitions and in home matches in European competition he’s scored five in his eight most recent outings. With him leading the attack against Dundalk here and those stats we’re liking the odds on him scoring and Molde winning.
