AC Milan face Celtic at the San Siro on Thursday night and their minds will be set on qualifying for the next stage of the competition.

Celtic have been nothing short of hopeless over their four Group H matches so far and while they can technically still qualify, Neil Lennon’s team are really just playing for some pride here and then in their final game at home to Lille next week.

We’re going with a four-leg Same Game Multi here, so let’s have a look for some value. And don’t let this one sneak up on you – kickoff is at 5.55pm so don’t miss out.

Over 3.5 Goals

When Milan’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic suffered an injury a little over a week ago, many questioned where would they get their goals from. Milan have certainly depended on the big man since he re-signed for the Rossoneri in December 2019, scoring 20 goals over his 24 matches. However, Milan drew with Lille since then in a tricky away Europa League match and they beat Fiorentina on Saturday.

Milan have scored 16 over their seven most recent home matches. Three of those matches saw Over 3.5 goals and six saw Over 2.5. Celtic matches have been seeing plenty of goals too – all five of their five most recent away matches have seen Over 3.5 goals and they’ve conceded 12, scoring 12 as well. Milan might be without Zlatan here but they’re facing a Celtic side who have all but forgotten how to defend. We should see plenty of goalmouth action here, so we’re going with Over 3.5 goals.

Milan -1

Milan are on a decent run here. They’ve won two, drawn two and lost one of their last five in all competitions while at the San Siro they’ve also won two, drawn two and lost one.

(-1)

Meanwhile Celtic aren’t in the best of shape. They’ve won one, drawn one and lost three of their last five, while away from home they’ve won one, drawn three and lost one. So far in Group H, Celtic have drawn one and lost three, scoring five and conceding 13 over their four matches. It’s hard to see them not getting another beating here and the gulf in quality between the Serie A and the Scottish Premiership could be all too evident by the time the 90 minutes is up.

Milan Over 1.5 Second Half Goals

Milan are unbeaten in the second half of matches across their nine Serie A games this season, winning five, drawing four and scoring 11 goals. They’ve scored seven over their four Europa League matches so far, while four have been in the second half. In their qualification rounds they had another three second-half goals.

Celtic’s kamikaze approach to defending has seen them concede eight second-half goals over their five most recent matches and away from home it gets even worse as they’ve conceded nine second-half goals over their five most previous matches. Milan can really turn the screw here against a side known for falling asleep in the second half of matches. Milan should do most of their damage in the second half and the odds on them getting Over 1.5 goals in the second period of play are too good to refuse.

Correct Score: 3-1

We’ve made enough of a case for the Milan win by now but Celtic can still get on the scoresheet here. While their defence have been playing with wild abandon and flirting with disaster for their last few matches they’re still finding the back of the net, scoring eight over their five most recent matches and scoring 12 over their five most recent on the road.

The market is saying the most likely score will be 2-1 but with that leaky Celtic defence we think they’ll go one better and win the match 3-1.
