Cardiff vs Barnsley – Draw
7.45pm, Sky Sports Arena
Cardiff’s season has failed to ignite following their play-off heartache at the end of last season and they find themselves languishing in the bottom half of the Championship table on account of too many draws. They are still without a win at home after four games at the Cardiff City Stadium this season and desperately need one on Tuesday if they are to kickstart their season into life.
It won’t be easy against a Barnsley side that has hit something of a purple patch in recent weeks. It looked for all the world that Barnsley were going to waste the chance they had been given with their miraculous escape at the end of last season by getting relegated with an extremely low tally after they picked up just one point from their opening four games. However, they have rallied well and are now unbeaten in their last five games, winning their last two.
This is a game that Cardiff simply have to win, but they may struggle against a side that has gotten results against a number of clubs in the top half.

Blackburn vs Middlesbrough – Boro to win
7.45pm, Sky Sports Football
Blackburn started the season relatively well, but they have suffered a major dip in form in their last five games. Rovers won two of their opening three games of the season, scoring 11 goals across the three games, but they have since won just one of their last six league games, losing four in the six-game spell.
Blackburn have failed to win at home since their 5-0 win against Wycombe in the second game of the season and they have lost their last two games at Ewood Park, including a defeat against struggling Nottingham Forest. It will be difficult to arrest their slump on Tuesday when Middlesbrough come to town.
Boro have flown under the radar this season, but Neil Warnock has somewhat predictably turned them into potential promotion challengers by employing an effective style that puts spectators to sleep. It has been quite a turnaround for Boro, who finished just five points off the relegation zone last season.
They are now unbeaten in their last eight games since their opening day defeat to Watford and they have a great opportunity to inflict further misery on a Blackburn side that has lost all early season momentum. A win at Ewood Park could propel Boro into the top two if results go in their favour elsewhere, and they should do their bit at least by picking up three points on the road.
