Ajax midfielder van de Beek looks to be on his way to Old Trafford, with the transfer being conducted with uncharacteristic professionalism by the Red Devils and their not-so-popular chief executive Ed Woodward.
But is the Dutchman set for stardom or a switch to Atalanta on loan in 12 months?
Our traders think the former is more likely and have drawn up a number of specials for the 23-year-old’s time at United – and we’re expecting goals. We think he’s far more likely to net 50 times in this career for his new club than he is to be heading to United’s Serie A dumping ground.
In fact, we reckon he’ll get off to a flyer and have given him a good chance of bagging 10 in his first season in England. He’s pretty short odds to get up and running early with a debut goal against Crystal Palace on 19th of September too.
If you fancy him to be red-hot in Manchester you can back him to score 15 times in the Premier League or to score 10 and assist 10 in his first season as well.
However, if you think he’s going to be more Jonathan Woodgate than Norman Whiteside, Van de Beek is around the mid-20s to score an own goal or be sent off on debut.
We’ve also priced him up to score in this season’s Champions League final and to set the league alight with a goal in his first five Prem games, though that is a bit of a long shot.
