Reading’s 99th minute goal nets Paddy Power punter £45,000 off £1.50 stake

What a bloody Wednesday!

Reading made it a wonderful Wednesday one punter as a late, late strike from Lucas Boye netted him a whopping sum of just under £45,000.

Our winner from the outskirts of Birmingham placed a six-fold accumulator on Wednesday’s Carabao Cup ties and it’s fair to say, he wasn’t shy of picking a shock result.

But, all must have seem lost for our customer when Reading trailed Premier League outfit Wolves going into injury time with the other five legs of his accumulator in the bag.

But, Boye – who is on loan at The Royals from Serie A outfit Torino – was the hero in the 99th minute as the Argentine striker latched onto a rabona cross from John Swift to nod in a late equaliser to send our victor into dreamland, after he picked out a draw in the game in his acca.

That result wasn’t even the biggest shock on his betslip, as he called wins for lower-league minnows Oxford United, Burton and Sunderland over their respective Premier League opposition of Bournemouth, West Ham and Sheffield United – with the Oxford shout beating odds of 7/1.

The impressive shout of his punt though came at Old Trafford as he correctly called the 9/1 draw between Manchester United and Rochdale! Oh Ole, it doesn’t get any better for you.

His final prediction was for Aston Villa to beat Brighton away at the Amex Stadium and goals from Jota, Conor Hourihane and Jack Grealish sealed an easy passage to the Round of 16 for The Villans.

After placeing a mere £1.50 on the bet, our winner walked away from one of our retail outlets in England’s second city with a cool £44,880 for himself.

Not only that, but he’s also won his way into our coveted Punting Hall of Fame! Not bad for a Wednesday eh?
