Paddy Power’s expert football trader Brian McDonnell directs his attention to Liverpool v Leicester on Thursday, as Jurgen Klopp & Co aim to keep pace with league leaders Man City and the Foxes look to regain some form after their surprise FA Cup exit at the hands of Nottingham Forest.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

It’s sure to be an exciting clash as former Reds boss Brendan Rodgers looks to inject some much-needed confidence into his side after a stuttering run of results. Leicester’s away form leaves a lot to be desired but Brian is expecting goals from both teams in this one. Let’s see where the smart money’s going with these Liverpool v Leicester tips.

Thursday 7.45pm: Liverpool v Leicester

TV: BT Sport 1

Leicester’s away form this season hasn’t been great, they’ve only won two away league games against Brentford and Norwich and the manner they lost to Forest at the weekend in the FA Cup will have hurt them.

Brendan Rodgers is now the favourite as the next manager to go in the Premier League market as well.

You know, when I was starting my research for this game and when Thommo is on, I try to stir up a bit of balance to the Liverpool debate. I was looking for any sort of case for Leicester here but just with that terrible away form, the goals they’re giving up, if you look at the expected goals against this season they’ve given up the third-highest amount of big chances in the league season. The last place you want to go when you’re conceding chances is Anfield.

So, I’m going to go with Liverpool to win and I’m going to go with both teams to score. Despite Leicester winning only two away games all season they have actually scored in every away game so far so I can see them getting on the score sheet.

I’ve had a look at the goalscoring markets as well. I’d wait until the lineups are announced as I’m presuming that Mane and Salah won’t be involved, they might be given a couple extra days rest after their AFCON final at the weekend.

I’m going to look at Fabinho. He’s been taking the penalties for Liverpool since Salah’s been away and when Milner’s not on the pitch as well so I think he’s worth a shout. He scored twice against Shrewsbury, he scored a header against Brentford and he scored a penalty in another game as well. He’s in a bit of goalscoring form so I’ll side with him.
