Champions League action has returned and Paddy Power ambassador Phil Thompson is back to focus on Malmo v Chelsea on Tuesday. He’s joined by our football trader Jason Murphy to discuss whether the Blues will continue their fine form. Chelsea come into the Malmo clash on the back of their impressive 3-0 win at Newcastle last weekend.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
Tuesday 5:45pm: Malmo v Chelsea
BT Sport 2
Thommo:
They’ve put this as the early kick-off to get the disappointment over quickly as Malmo have been the whipping boys of the group. I can’t see anything but a Chelsea victory.
The only question mark over Chelsea is who will be in Thomas Tuchel’s starting line up? Mind you, whatever team Chelsea put out will have enough to beat Malmo.
This is all about the Blues and I’m going Chelsea to Win to Nil. I also fancy Mason Mount to Score Anytime. He missed out on their win at Newcastle at the weekend and he’ll be raring to go.
Jason:
Malmo do not create chances and Chelsea are superb defensively. Chelsea to Win to Nil is the bet here. I know we’re sometimes reluctant to back it as any team can score a lucky goal but Malmo won’t cause Chelsea any problems.
At the start of the Champions League campaign earlier this season, Chelsea were third favourites. They’ve drifted out to fifth favourites now. There’s definitely value in Chelsea’s current price to win the Champions League Outright.
They will need to top their group to avoid Bayern Munich in the last 16 but it’s worth having a look at. They’re the reigning champions and they’re also flying in the Premier League.
