Arsenal -1

Arsenal produced arguably their best performance of the season on Friday night against Aston Villa and will hope to follow it up against a struggling Leeds side on Tuesday. Marcelo Bielsa’s side appear to be enduring a dose of second-season syndrome, winning just one of their opening nine league games and finding themselves just one place and three points outside the bottom three.

They are yet to win on the road this season in any competition and have only avoided defeat in away league games against Newcastle and Burnley, who are yet to win a game.

Mikel Arteta seems to be taking the League Cup seriously this season and this represents an excellent opportunity to reach a quarter-final.

Arsenal are unbeaten in their last seven games in all competitions and should be confident of making relatively light work of this Leeds side.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Score Two or More Goals

After a difficult season last year, Aubameyang appears to have found his groove once again. The Gabonese striker has scored in each of his last three appearances at the Emirates and netted a hattrick against West Brom in the opening round of the League Cup as Arsenal eased to a 6-0 victory at the Hawthorns.

With Arteta appearing to prioritise the League Cup, Aubameyang is likely to lead the line against Leeds on Tuesday and should flourish against their man-to-man style. He scored a hattrick in his last appearance against Bielsa’s side and is good value to notch at least two more on Tuesday night.

Emile Smith Rowe Anytime Assist

Smith Rowe has emerged as one of Arsenal’s brightest sparks in recent months and will be one of their most dangerous attacking players on Tuesday night if Arteta elects to start him. He has recorded more assists than any Arsenal player this season and ranked second in assists last campaign, while he also provided a goal for Aubameyang in the 4-2 win over Leeds at the Emirates in January.

He averages 1.4 key passes per game this season and should create at least some chances for his teammates against an opponent that has managed just one league clean sheet in nine games. He will get plenty of space against them on Tuesday night can stretch further ahead in the Arsenal assist charts.

Over 2.5 Goals

Leeds’s defensive record against the traditional big six makes for grim reading. Bielsa’s side have conceded eight goals in two league games against Manchester United and Liverpool this season, while they conceded 21 goals in six away trips to the big six last season.

The fact that they resolutely stick to the principle of going to man-to-man in every game that they play is commendable but sometimes naïve, and Arsenal will look to inflict damage on Tuesday.

Arsenal don’t always score a lot of goals, but they have scored two or more goals in their last four games at the Emirates and should do the same against Leeds.

On the other hand, Leeds will always have a chance of scoring against whoever they face and should cause Arsenal some problems at the other end. There should be goals on Tuesday, if nothing else.
