Football tips: Kane to strike but Spurs to stumble in this 38/1 Bet Builder v Everton

Both Everton and Tottenham have failed to build on promising starts to the season and their respective campaigns now appear to be following very familiar trends. After putting themselves in an excellent position to finally finish above rivals Liverpool and potentially secure Champions League football next season, Everton have gone and done an Everton.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side have gone four league games without a win as the gap between them and the top four continues to widen. They currently find themselves seven points off fourth-placed West Ham, albeit with a game in hand, and it is difficult to see them making up ground on the teams above them due to their wretched home form.

Ancelotti’s side have won just one of their last eight league games at Goodison Park and have collected just 18 points from 15 league games all season. It’s hard to make a case for them beating Spurs on Friday night, even considering Tottenham’s shocking form in recent months.

Jose Mourinho’s side could have gone top of the league if they managed to beat Liverpool in December, but they have endured a precipitous slide down the Premier League table ever since. Mourinho has seen his side surrender 18 points from winning positions this season and their second-half performance against Manchester United last week left a lot to be desired.

Neither side seems good enough to claim a win on Friday night.

Both teams to score

If the FA Cup fifth-round meeting between the two sides is anything to go by, we should see plenty of goals on Friday night. Everton edged a 5-4 thriller back in February in a barmy game of football and both sides continue to look defensively vulnerable.

While Friday’s game might not live up to that nine-goal goal-fest, it still should see plenty of goalmouth action. Everton have only managed one meagre clean sheet in their last nine home games in the league, while they have managed just two shut outs at home all season.

Spurs, on the other hand, have conceded eight goals in their last five Premier League games and look vulnerable at the best of times, especially when they go in front.

Everton will hope to expose that vulnerability but will struggle to keep Spurs out at the other end.

Harry Kane to score anytime

Kane may end up leaving Tottenham in the summer if they fail to qualify for the Champions League, but he will be keen to finish the season as top scorer. The English forward is enjoying a stellar season so far and his form is the main reason why Spurs aren’t currently in Arsenal territory.

Kane currently leads the way for goals and assists in the Premier League and will look to respond after a quiet outing against Manchester United last Sunday. He netted against Everton in that cup tie in February and will be rubbing his hands together at the prospect of facing an Everton side that has leaked goals at Goodison Park this season.

Mason Holgate to be booked

Mason Holgate’s disciplinary record in the league this season has been nothing to write home about. The English defender has been booked seven times in just 20 league appearances, meaning that he has seen a yellow card in 35% of the games he has played this season. Holgate has committed 25 fouls in the Premier League this season and receives a yellow card for roughly every three fouls that he makes.

He will have to contend with a lively Spurs attack containing Kane, Son Heung-Min, and Lucas Moura and is likely to end up in a position where he will be forced to commit a foul. Judging by Spurs’ theatrics against United last weekend, it’s easy to see Holgate going into the referee’s notebook at Goodison on Friday.
