Newcastle United has reported record merchandise sales after launching their Carabao Cup Runners Up collection earlier this month.
The Magpies face Liverpool in Sunday’s Wembley showpiece having already come to terms with the fact that they will lose in the final for the second time in three years.

A source within the Newcastle United retail department revealed:
“Two year ago we were convinced we would beat Manchester United and we lost, so if we cannot beat them what hope have we against a side like Liverpool.
“We decided to launch our #RU25 range as soon as we beat Arsenal in the semi-final and it has been our most successful collection ever.
“We’ve had queues around the block at the club megastore from morning till night in recent days and we’ve practically sold out of everything.”
Merch highlights include scarves and bucket hats with Carabao Cup Runners Up 2025 emblazoned on them and t-shirts and hoodies with the words “I went to Wembley and got hammered (by Liverpool)” written on the back.

Club bosses hope to use the profits from the sales of Cup Final products to put towards the cost of building a new £1 billion stadium next door to the existing St James’ Park site.
A club spokesperson said:
“We have not won anything since 1969, but our fans don’t mind. They just want to go to London, have a good day out and watch us lose in a final once again.”
Not all fans are happy however, many complaining that the club has taken advantage of their loyalty by hiking up prices. Dave from Wallsend told us that;
“They’re charging 15 quid for a scarf which is unacceptable in my opinion – me and a lot of others have kept our runners up scarves from 2023 so we’ll just change the year using a felt tip.”

There could be more bad news for Toon fans heading to the capital this weekend. Newcastle United’s Independent Supporters Trust warning that many of the pubs in the West End have been designated as “Topless free zones.”
“Our fans love to get their kit off but we have been advised to tell supporters that there will be zero tolerance by many publicans, especially in tourist areas,” we were told by a fans group representative.
“We have also received news that the price of Newcastle Brown Ale will be doubled this weekend with the cheapest expected to be around 12 quid a bottle.”
