Guardiola to wear headguard for Man City v Liverpool teamtalk

On the 'ed Pep!

Pep Guardiola, Man city manager, october 2024

Pep Guardiola will wear a rugby style protective head-guard when he gives his team-talk ahead of kick-off at Anfield on Sunday, before his stuttering Manchester City side takes on Liverpool.

The under-pressure Citizens boss, who is starting to show visible signs of fatigue after his team threw away a three-goal lead at home to Feyenoord in the Champions League on Tuesday to take their winless run to six in all competitions, has been advised by the club’s medical staff to try to act a little calmer towards his players in the dressing-room.

“He’s definitely not been himself in recent weeks” a club insider told Paddy Power News, “He has been literally banging his head against brick walls with some of his players, feeling that they have taken their eyes off the ball.

“We’ve had plasterers in at The Etihad for the last month repairing holes in the walls. Some are so big you can even fit Erling Haaland’s head in them.”

Amazon Prime are due to film Pep’s pre-match team-talk on Sunday as part of their new fly-on-the-wall documentary, “Definitely Nothing,” a sequel to their hugely successful All or Nothing series which will air at the end of the season, but City chiefs are understood to have their concerns.

The streaming giant however, are determined to get their way. A spokesperson explaining to us that;

“We never expected City to be so s**t this season. This is TV gold, even better than the Jose Mourinho one at Spurs and we want to be right at the heart of the action.

“I agree that nobody wants to see John Stones in the buff, but what they do want to see is how the best manager in the world over the past 15 years responds to his first major crisis.”

Meanwhile, Guardiola’s on-field outfitter, CP Company, who some have rather harshly accused of being responsible for his recent meltdown, designing coats that have far too many pockets in them thus ensuring the gaffer is constantly losing his car keys, are understood to be manufacturing the head protector.

A spokesperson for the clothing giant explaining to us that;

“We have been working alongside England Rugby to try to come up with the best design. We’ve even gone as far as putting our trademark goggles on the top.

“We hope to have them available in the shops in time for Christmas, RRP 300 quid.”
