Steve Bruce one step closer to managing all 92 clubs with Blackpool move

Brucie's back in the game

Steve Bruce moved one step closer to his lifetime ambition of managing every single team in the English professional league tier after being appointed head coach of League One side Blackpool.

The 63-year-old is now only 3 clubs shy of reaching his goal with just Milton Keynes Dons, Newport County and Manchester United missing from his managerial CV.

In a coaching career spanning 25 seasons, Bruce has managed with varying degrees of failure the other 89 English league sides.

His longest spell as boss was a 6-year stint at Birmingham City. While his briefest tenure was at Chelsea where he was sacked after only half an hour by owner Todd Boehly in a case of mistaken identity.

When asked by Paddy Power News if he thought he was the right man to bring Premier League football back to Bloomfield Road, despite his many critics and recent performances at the likes of Newcastle and West Brom, Bruce replied:

‘How’s the bacon, did you say?’

‘I’m not here to talk about bacon or any fried breakfast foods for that matter. I’d prefer to discuss more important matters. Like Blackpool rock, for instance.

‘There’s nothing like a hard pink cylindrical stick of boiled sugar to start the day off the right way’, he said while sucking on the traditional seaside confectionery.

Meanwhile, Blackpool owner Simon Sadler is delighted to have landed Bruce after missing out on No1 target Erik ten Hag.

‘We thought Erik would have been available after Sunday’s performance against Liverpool, but the United board are enjoying the banter too much and have decided to give him until Christmas’, Sadler told us.

‘On the plus side, Brucey will bring us all the craic that Erik provides and then some’.

In other news, Blackpool greengrocers have reported a 500% spike in sales of cabbages since the club announced Bruce’s appointment.
