Former Manchester United defender Steve Bruce has reached out to Kylian Mbappe to reassure the French superstar his image rights will not be affected by the broken nose he suffered against Austria earlier this week.
Mbappe was injured after planting his head into the shoulder of a defender from a free-kick late on in Monday’s 1-0 win.
The French return to Euros action tonight against the Netherlands with Mbappe set to take to the field sporting a protective mask.
Bruce, who broke his hooter more times than he received England call-ups, told Paddy Power News: “When I heard that the lad had broken his nose, I had to get in touch.
“I told him not to worry and that his image rights will not be affected.
“I recounted to Kylian that since retiring as a player I’ve been able to promote a healthy living lifestyle among football fans across the UK – including at Aston Villa where lettuces would be used to support me as manager.
“I also reassured him that the first break is always the hardest but after the 76th time, you start to enjoy the sensation.”

Despite having a conk that permanently points eastwards, Bruce explained that he had also told Mbappe to keep his chin up.
“Despite always looking like I had gone 12 rounds with Tyson Fury, I was voted Manchester United hunk of the year, two years running, 1990 and 91,” Bruce added.
“Then Lee Sharpe took the crown off me the following season before Giggsy came along and that was that.”
Mbappe’s new club Real Madrid have already launched a new range of protective masks (pictured, above) in their famous all-white colours, for fans keen to support their new star striker.
Accusations of the mask being a blatant rip off of the one from the Phantom of the Opera have been denied by the Spanish giants in a Communicado Official.
