Sporting manager Ruben Amorim has reportedly agreed a deal in principle to replace Jurgen Klopp at Anfield – much to the delight of one Liverpool supporter.
Diehard Red Paddy Bateman claims Amorim was always his first choice to succeed Klopp despite previously describing Xabi Alonso as the “only man” capable of replacing the German in several dozen since deleted social media posts.

Liverpool made their move for the Portuguese coach after first-choice target Alonso committed to another season at Bayer Leverkusen.
The announcement coincided with some seismic activity on Merseyside when the collective deletion of thousands of social media posts caused a category 7 earthquake.
Discussing Amorim’s impending move to Anfield, whilst frequently checking his phone, Bateman told Paddy Power News:
‘Amorim’s early work at Braga was a little too possession-based for my taste. But when Sporting came in for him in 2019, I think he really came into his own, tactically and managerially’.
‘He allows his centre-backs to build up play by breaking lines through the middle, supported by a double pivot dropping deep. This has seen Sporting progress the ball efficiently while maintaining control of games.
‘He’s been compared to Jose Mourinho, but I think Ruben has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humour.
‘In ’21, Ruben led Sporting to their first league title triumph in 19 years! His most accomplished season. This masterpiece included a league and cup double. A season so successful, most people don’t remember their 32-match unbeaten streak. But they should, because it’s not just about the pleasure of winning and the importance of momentum. It’s also a personal statement about Ruben himself’.
Asked about when he’d first heard of Amorim, Bateman replied:
‘About 4 hours ago when Sky Germany said he’d agreed a 3-year deal with Liverpool’.
*Paddy Power’s football coverage is pure fantasy – don’t believe it for a second.
