Liverpool v Man City Premier League team news, kick-off time and date

The race for the title continues...

Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola

Liverpool host Manchester City this weekend in a game that could be the difference in the race for the Premier League title.

As things stand, defending champions City are a point behind leaders Liverpool so win at Anfield and they will overtake them.

The reverse fixture at the Etihad Stadium back in November finished 1-1 after Trent Alexander-Arnold cancelled out Erling Haaland’s opener.

Their last game against each other at Anfield was in October 2022 when Liverpool won 1-0, so if they can repeat that result this week then they will be one step closer to the title.

Sunday’s game will also be the final league game in which Pep Guardiola will take on Jurgen Klopp, with the German stepping down from his role at Liverpool in the summer. The pair have battled each other over the past decade with spells in Germany and now in England.

Klopp’s Reds are the only team in the past six seasons that have been able to stop City from winning a league title; they dominated the 2019-20 season to lift the Premier League for the first time.

While that’s their only league title under Klopp, they missed out by just a point to City in both 2022 and 2019.
