Liverpool duo Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk have been tipped to appear in the next series of Strictly Come Dancing.
Following their calamitous cock-up at the Emirates last weekend that gifted Arsenal their second goal, it is understood that BBC producers are eager to get them on board.
The show has a history of footballers who have been prepared to throw a few shapes in the name of entertainment – David James, Robbie Savage, Peter Schmeichel, John Barnes, Alex Scott, and Tony Adams all having taken to the famous stage.
A BBC insider told Paddy Power News:
“We are currently in negotiations with two Premier League footballers as to the possibility of them appearing on the forthcoming season.
“At this moment we are not at liberty to reveal any names, but I can tell you that both of them play in the north west for a team who plays in red and has a German gaffer.”
We tracked down one of the shows judges, Anton Du Beke, who told us;
“I had no idea about football, I didn’t know my Sheffield Wednesday’s from my Shrove Tuesday’s, but when Adams came on in 2022, we were all blown away. He even taught me the offside rule in between rehearsals.
He continued by explaining that:
“I have been studying the footage of the match from Sunday and the bit where they nearly run into each other – I’ve not seen a routine so polished since Torvill and Dean performed Bolero at the Winter Olympics. It was totally jaw-dropping and almost reduced me to tears.
“I immediately contacted our head judge Shirley Ballas and told her we must get these guys on the show.”

We tried to gauge the reaction from Liverpool, but the club have been keeping their cards close to their chest are were not prepared to talk to us.
We did however, manage to talk to a member of the ground staff at the club’s state of the art training centre in Kirkby, who explained that:
“I know something is going on. For the past couple of days, Alisson and Van Dijk have been staying behind after training to practice some routines, and it wasn’t how to clear their lines.
“Monday it looked as though they were performing some kind of two-step whilst yesterday, it was definitely the foxtrot.
“All I would say to them is don’t give up the day job.”
*Paddy Power’s football coverage is pure fantasy – don’t believe it for a second.
