The Carabao Cup returns for another season with plenty of fizz as the 92 teams in the top four leagues of English football battle it out for the first trophy of the season. Sorry, Arsenal fans, the Community Shield does not count!
Casemiro and Marcus Rashford netted in last campaign’s final at Wembley as Manchester United beat Newcastle to kick off Erik ten Hag’s reign in perfect fashion – but the Red Devils boss was unable to repeat the feat as his side crashed out in the fourth round.
The Premier League’s elite clubs have dominated the Carabao Cup over the last 10 years and those competing in Europe got a bye to the third round, while the rest of the top-flight teams entered proceedings in round two.
