Breaking News: Klopp demands Sunderland v Liverpool beachball game replay

Jurgen Klopp has been going through the archives and has a list of 76 Liverpool games he wants to be replayed since 2009.

Jurgen Klopp is demanding Liverpool’s controversial 2009 defeat against Sunderland is replayed.

The Merseyside club, then managed by Rafa Benitez, lost the Premier League game in bizarre fashion when an innocuous shot by Sunderland’s Darren Bent struck an inflatable beachball and was diverted into Liverpool’s goal.

It follows Klopp’s assertions that Liverpool’s loss at Tottenham Hotspur over the weekend should be replayed after VAR wrongly disallowed a goal and Curtis Jones was sent off.

The German held an impromptu press conference at the club’s AXA Training Centre this morning, during which he rhymed off a perceived litany of injustices.

‘The beachball scored the winning goal in that game but I do not see it registered in Sunderland’s Premier League squad for the 2009/2010 season’, Klopp told Paddy Power News.

‘Therefore, I think the outcome should be a replay. It probably will not happen. The argument against that will be that some of those Sunderland players are in their 40s now’.

‘And what about the beachball? Where is it now? Will it have a puncture?’

The 56-year-old also wants his side’s 4-1 defeat at the hands of rivals Manchester City back in 2021 replayed because goalkeeper Alisson Becker had cold feet.

‘He’s Brazilian. He’s used to playing beach football on the hot sand. How was he supposed to know how f**king cold an English winter is?’.

‘FA rules should stipulate that all South Americans must wear at least three pairs of socks during games’.

‘Therefore, I think the outcome should be a replay. It probably will not happen. The argument against that will be that Alisson is a grown ass man and that I make up bullsh*t excuses every time I lose a game’.

In related news, Manchester United have lodged an £80m bid for the infamous beachball.

‘The beachball has scored more Premier League goals than Antony and Sancho have this season’, United boss Erik Ten Hag told Paddy Power News.
