Ten Hag: Man United can still make top 4 in Champions League group

Man United are dead certs for top 4 in Group A - with the emphasis on 'dead'

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag insists his side can still achieve a top four finish in their Champions League group following Tuesday night’s loss against Galatasaray.

The defiant Dutchman made the bullish claim despite United’s 3-2 defeat by the Turkish Super Lig outfit at Old Trafford.

‘We are schhit, this is clear’, Ten Hag told Paddy Power News.

‘But I am still confident we can achieve a top four finish in the group’.

‘I would ask our fans to also make preparations for Thursday night football in case we manage to scrape into third place above Copenhagen’.

‘The Champions League nights in the Bernabéu and San Siro are overrated anyway’.

‘Our fans would much rather travel to the likes of Azerbaijan and Slovenia and see us lose against clubs with names like Wi-Fi passwords’.

‘Although I’ll admit the Europa League theme music is pish by comparison’.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag has backed under fire goalkeeper Andre Onana after another error strewn performance from his new signing.

The Cameroon international apologized after the game claiming he mistakenly believed he was playing dodgeball.

‘The last time United signed a goalie from Italy it was Massimo Taibi and look how well that turned out for the club’, said Ten Hag.

‘Andre has many strengths, like his ability with the ball at his feet. As far as the coaching staff are concerned, he only has one weakness. Goalkeeping’.

Despite United’s disastrous start to the season, club CEO Richard Arnold insists Ten Hag’s job as manager is safe.

‘Erik’s still the right man for the job – if the job is taking United into the Championship’.

‘No but seriously, we’re f**ked’.

‘The only reason I haven’t handed Megamind his P45 this morning is because no one else would take the job’.

‘Plus, he does put on a decent barbeque to be fair to him’.
